Tottenham signing facing collapse, as two reasons combine to stifle Postecoglou

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham are increasingly unlikely to sign Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly before tonight’s 11pm deadline, and two of their own players are proving part of the problem, per reports.

Spurs have made no secret of their desire to sign another established centre-half and duly bid £20m for the left-footed Kelly earlier on Friday.

The proposed terms would’ve also seen Eric Dier move the other way, though the England international did not okay the move.

The Athletic subsequently reported Dier had also been offered to Nottingham Forest. However, that switch was not to Dier’s liking either.

The Times claimed Tottenham had not given up hope of reviving their pursuit of Kelly. However, according to the latest from Football London, a deal is now highly unlikely.

Explaining why, the outlet revealed the reasons are twofold.

Firstly, Bournemouth are becoming ‘really reluctant’ to part ways with a player who is a regular starter on the south coast.

Secondly, Tottenham must reportedly move a player on before Kelly can be signed and along with Dier, Davinson Sanchez too is proving difficult to shift.

Indeed, Football London added the Colombian now ‘wants to stay’ at Tottenham.

Unless Tottenham can offload one of Dier or Sanchez over the next few hours, their proposed move for Kelly will become unworkable.

Even if Dier or Sanchez are turfed out, the difficult task of convincing Bournemouth to part ways with Kelly must then be tackled.
