Tottenham vulnerable as Real Madrid plot damaging raid for player whose exit will infuriate Harry Kane

Tottenham trio Pedro Porro, Son Heung-min and Harry Kane

Real Madrid are mulling a move for a Tottenham player whose exit would go down like a lead balloon with Harry Kane, per a report.

All manner of changes are on the horizon at Tottenham this summer. A new manager is the first port of call and who Daniel Levy appoints will reportedly have a major bearing on whether Harry Kane pens fresh terms.

Spurs’ all-time record scorer is quietly enjoying one of his greatest ever seasons. But for the simply outrageous Erling Haaland, Kane’s mark of 26 goals would put him six clear of Ivan Toney in the race for the golden boot.

Kane has excelled in a Tottenham team that’s largely been devoid of creativity from midfield areas. Even his partners in crime in the forward line such as Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski have endured down years.

However, a ray of hope has shone through over recent months, with January signing Pedro Porro making his mark going forward.

Porro signed on loan from Sporting Lisbon in a £5m deal that also contained a £39m obligation to buy. The move will become permanent this summer, though per Mundo Deportivo, Porro is already attracting heavyweight interest from Real Madrid.

The Spanish outlet report Real are seeking a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal whose powers are waning now aged 31.

Carlo Ancelotti also has the versatile Lucas Vazquez on the books as well as Alvaro Odriozola. However, Vazquez too is the wrong side of 30 and Odriozola has reportedly been up for sale for several years.

Porro is listed as being one of several candidates in Real’s sights. The others named by Mundo Deportivo are Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer Leverkusen), Juan Foyth (Villarreal) and Reece James (Chelsea).

Tottenham will resist offers; Kane loving Porro link-up

Goal piggyback on MD’s article, noting that despite Porro’s inconsistent displays since arriving, Tottenham are in no mood to cash in just yet.

However, that seemingly won’t stop Real from posing the question and if Spurs’ new manager doesn’t deploy wingbacks, Porro may struggle if asked to play as an orthodox right-back.

In any case, one player who certainly won’t want to see Porro leave is Harry Kane.

Porro notched the assist for Kane’s winner against Crystal Palace on Saturday and the Spurs talisman spoke incredibly highly of the Portuguese post-match.

“Pedro is fantastic,” Kane said (via The Boot Room). “He’s got a great delivery and as he looked up I think he just saw me there at the back post with a bit of space.

“Perfect ball and I timed my header well just with the slip of the surface, it was nice to see it bounce in.

“But I think he showed great desire without the ball today. We know what he can do with the ball, but he showed great desire against a really tough winger.”
