Tottenham to offer four-year contract to top centre-back who can quit Serie A for €25-30m

Antonio Conte Tottenham FA Cup defeat

Tottenham are reportedly ready to offer centre-back Stefan de Vrij a four-year contract this summer, with Inter Milan ready to do business for between €25-30million.

When Antonio Conte arrived at the club back in November, one of the first names on his wanted list was Dutch defender De Vrij, who excelled for the Italian as Inter won their first Serie A title in a decade in the 2020-21 season.

After a bright start in north London, the last month or so has proved more difficult for Conte.

Spurs have only picked up six points from their last six Premier League games. They were also knocked out of the FA Cup by Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.

Reports coming out of Italy last month claim that Conte wants to bring more proven winners to north London. To that end, De Vrij fits the bill perfectly.

The 30-year-old spent two seasons under Conte at the San Siro, but his contract ends in 2023.

With that in mind, a report from InterLive.it claims that the Italian giants are preparing for the player’s exit.

Inter ready to sell De Vrij

The report states that the defender is one of the ‘most expendable’ players for Inter, mainly because of his age and current contract situation.

De Vrij will be offered a four-year contract worth around €6.5m per season, with the fee involved a reasonable one.

Given his contract situation, the experienced defender would only cost between €25-30m. That sort of figure is a bargain for a player with the sort resume that De Vrij can offer.

The Dutchman could be the first of many new arrivals at Spurs, as Conte looks to reshape his squad.
