Tottenham given transfer green light as Prem star prepares to jump ship in order to join

James Maddison, James Justin, Leicester City, August 2022

Tottenham could have a great chance at a transfer for James Maddison, as the star is reportedly keen on joining the side from Leicester City.

Maddison has been one of Leicester’s most influential assets over the past few seasons. Indeed, the Englishman is frequently the star of the show for the Foxes.

He has bagged 48 goals and provided 33 assists in his 178 games at the club.

Those stats include 12 Premier League goals in the 2021/22 season, making him the Foxes’ second-top scorer, three behind lethal striker Jamie Vardy.

Maddison has started this season on the right foot, too. The one-cap England international has scored three times and assisted once in the league this season.

Indeed, he has contributed to nearly half of Leicester’s goals in the Premier League so far – four of the 10 they have scored.

That shows that he might be ready to take on a new challenge, especially given that his side currently sit rock bottom of the Premier League, on just one point.

A move away may soon be on the cards, too, if he gets his way.

Football Insider reports that Maddison is keen on a move to Tottenham. The report states that he would ‘jump at the chance’ to pull on a Spurs shirt.

That would surely give him a better chance at playing Champions League football than his current situation could.

Spurs in box seat with Maddison keen

Antonio Conte’s side would be silly not to attempt to make a move for Maddison. His numbers in the Premier League speak for themselves, and he is yet to hit his prime.

With that being said, he should be even to give whichever club he plays for even more in years to come.

The opportunity to sign someone of his calibre does not come around all too often. The fact he is in a tough spot at the moment, and apparently wants to play for Spurs, gives them a great chance to get a deal done.

As such, they should be doing their all to attempt to bring him on board. A host of sides are likely going to be interested in prising him away from Leicester soon, so they could lose the chance if they do not take it soon.
