Transfer Gossip: Tottenham in £25m bid for Frankfurt star seen as huge upgrade for Conte; Arsenal turn to rivals’ striker amid Gabriel Jesus frustration

Tottenham are readying a firm bid to sign Filip Kostic with the player seen as a big upgrade on two players for Antonio Conte, Arsenal are ready to turn their striker focus to Chelsea, while Sunday’s Transfer Gossip claims Fulham are looking to sign a departing Manchester United star.

FILIP KOSTIC SUBJECT OF TOTTENHAM BID

Tottenham will reportedly launch a £25m bid to sign Eintracht Frankfurt star Filip Kostic.

The powerful wideman has been the subject of intense Spurs scrutiny in recent months as they look to strengthen their squad this summer. And the Serbia international was again watched by Tottenham scouts in Wednesday’s Europa League final.

Now, according to the Daily Express, Tottenham are to launch a bid to sign the 29-year-old in the coming weeks.

Playing mainly on the wing, Kostic has seven goals and 15 assists this season. And he played a leading role in Frankfurt’s Europa League success to, scoring three times and creating six goals in that competition alone. It was also his cross for Rafael Borre to prod home the equaliser in Wednesday’s final.

And it seems Antonio Conte is convinced he has what it takes to be a success in the Premier League.

Capable of playing on either flank or as a wing-back, it is in that position why Conte wants to sign him.

He is seen as a potential upgrade to either Sergio Reguillon or Ryan Sessegnon down the left side. He is seen as more powerful and direct than both and also more than capable of adding to Spurs’ attacking efficiency.

With just a year left on his deal, Frankfurt are vulnerable to his sale.

He lists Stuttgart and Hamburg among his former sides, but Kostic may be tempted by the chance of a move to the Premier League.

Spurs are also reportedly keen on Yannick Carrasco, who could perform a similar job down the right.

ARSENAL TURN FOCUS TO ARAMANDO BROJA

Arsenal are reportedly ready to go all out to land Armando Broja this summer.

The Albania striker has made a big impression during his season with Southampton, scoring nine goals in all competitions.

While not the most prolific, at 20-years-old, he is seen as someone who will only get better the more he plays.

And with a route into Chelsea’s side looking unlikely, the Blues appear open to his sale.

Indeed, Chelsea would reportedly be looking to cash in for around £25m this summer. And that price tag has seemingly also alerted West Ham and Newcastle, who also like the powerful striker, claims Goal.

Southampton would also be looking to make the move permanent.

However, Arsenal may have the upper hand if they make a concrete bid.

Mikel Arteta is in the market for another striker but efforts to sign Gabriel Jesus are proving difficult.

Manchester City are seemingly seeking around £55m for the Brazilian – a fee seemingly too much given he will be out of contract in a year.

Furthermore, doubts have emerged over whether the striker is willing to drop into the Europa League.

As such, a move for Broja looks the easier option for Arsenal, with the striker seen as a better fit in their system anyway.

FULHAM IN FOR NEMANJA MATIC

Fulham are emerging as surprise contenders to sign Nemanja Matic this summer.

The veteran Serbian midfielder is leaving Manchester United after five seasons and has plenty of offers.

Atletico Madrid were initially linked while reports lately have suggested a move to Roma is on the cards.

However, The Sun claims Fulham are now firmly in the running for the player. They claim boss Marco Silva is trying to tempt the 33-year-old to remain in the Premier League.

And he wants to make him the heartbeat of their side. The Championship winners are looking to establish themselves in the Premier League next season.

They regularly yo-yo between the divisions; the Cottagers seemingly lacking a bit of know-how in the top flight.

But Silva reckons Matic could fix that and become an important addition to the Fulham side.

Leaving Old Trafford as a free agent, Fulham would not need to pay a fee. And they hope to tempt Matic with a decent wage and the promise of first-team football.
