Transfer Gossip: Bastoni dashes Tottenham plan as double Inter raid with Perisic in major doubt; Forest plan Spence bid

Danilo and Alessandro Bastoni during Juventus v Inter Milan

A double Tottenham deal for Ivan Perisic and Alessandro Bastoni is in doubt, while Nottingham Forest eye a Djed Spence bid – both in all the latest Transfer Gossip.

Tottenham have sorted a deal for Ivan Perisic, but a double Inter swoop to bring in Alessandro Bastoni too is in serious doubt, according to a report.

Spurs are making early moves in the summer transfer window after booking their place back in the Champions League.

Manager Antonio Conte has subsequently informed the club that he wants as many as six new signings.

Tottenham’s defence has emerged as his starting point and Conte has begun by raiding Inter for Perisic. The pair worked together at Inter in the 2020/21 season, winning the Serie A title.

However, Conte also wants centre-back Bastoni to join his Tottenham defence.

Spurs will supposedly have to pay £54million to sign the 23-year-old Italy international centre-back.

However, Evening Standard reporter Dan Kilpatrick now claims that the Bastoni deal is in doubt. Indeed, the defender feels reluctant to leave Inter.

While the hopes of the transfer have not completely evaporated, Tottenham have some convincing to do.

Inter Milan need to sell and Bastoni seems to be the player to leave with Manchester United and Tottenham interested in him

Chief among their persuasion tactics may be the chance to link up with Conte again and play not only Champions League football, but in the Premier League too.

Bastoni would also get to work under a manager who trusts him in his formation, the defender crucial in Inter’s Serie A win.

The 11-cap Italy international has played 118 times for Inter.

Djed Spence Forest May 2022

Nottingham Forest are preparing a bid for on-loan Middlesbrough star Djed Spence, a report has claimed.

The 21-year-old impressed at the City Ground this season, playing a starring role in Forest’s journey to promotion on Sunday.

He has, for now, gone back to Chris Wilder’s Boro side and has two years left on his contract in the North East. However, his future remains uncertain after Forest’s promotion.

Indeed, Sky Sports News reports that Forest are planning a bid to sign Spence permanently.

They believe they could be in the driving seat to re-sign the right-back after his 50 outings for Steve Cooper’s side this term.

However, the newly-promoted Premier League side will face top-flight competition from Arsenal, Tottenham and Brentford.

Spurs and Brentford have reportedly made recent enquiries, while Bayern Munich are monitoring the situation from afar.

Spence featured in 39 Championship games for Forest this season before playing every minute of the play-offs.

Cheick Doucoure playing for RC Lens

Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira has reportedly made a deal for Lens midfielder Cheick Doucoure his summer transfer priority.

Vieira impressed in his debut season in Premier League management and is therefore preparing to take his team to another level.

The Telegraph reports that Mali international Doucoure is his top target to bolster his midfield.

Former Nice manager Vieira followed the player’s progress while the pair were in France together.

The manager subsequently believes he can make an impact in the Premier League.

Palace are after another midfielder with Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher returning to Stamford Bridge.

What’s more, Cheikhou Kouyate is out of contract and is not signing an extension.

Doucoure, 22, played 34 Ligue 1 games for Lens last season and has eight caps for his country.
