Antonio Conte is closing on the signing of Georginio Wijnaldum for Tottenham, Manchester United know their top target to become next manager, while Monday’s transfer gossip has details of a Liverpool promise to a Real Madrid midfielder.
GEORGINIO WIJNALDUM NEARING TOTTENHAM MOVE
Tottenham are reportedly closing on the surprise signing of Georginio Wijnaldum as Antonio Conte strengthens his midfield options.
The Spurs boss is looking to put his stamp on his side, but has so far been unable to bring in any new players.
Indeed, with funds tight, Spurs are likely having to get creative in their January spending. And with Dele Alli, Bryan Gil and Tanguy Ndombele nearing exits, Conte is now looking to turn Wijnaldum.
The former Liverpool man has found it hard to impress in Paris after leaving Merseyside last summer. And while he has featured in 24 games, he’s only managed three goals and two assists.
Indeed, he’s often deployed on the left of the PSG midfield – a position which doesn’t suit his game.
As such, he’s made it perfectly clear that he is open for a return to the Premier League.
Georginio Wijnaldum in, Tanguy Ndombele out
Now the Daily Mail claims the Wijnaldum’s name has popped up during discussions with PSG for Ndombele.
The Ligue 1 giants are looking to take the former Lyon man back to France. And the paper claims Wijnaldum is pushing for a move the other way as part of the deal.
Now the report claims a swap between the two clubs looks likely – with all parties keen to make it happen.
Wijnaldum was recently linked with a return to Newcastle, while Arsenal are also looking into a deal.
Gini Wijnaldum linked with Newcastle return
Gini Wijnaldum has been linked with a Newcastle return this January.
However, it is Spurs who are most likely to secure the Dutchman’s signature.
The move for Wijnaldum comes after a painful snub from Franck Kessie.
Spurs director Fabio Paratici appears to have agreed a deal to sign the Ivorian from AC Milan. However, the midfielder has reportedly rejected Tottenham, having no interest in a move to the Lilywhites.
