Transfer Gossip: Forward ‘dreams’ of Tottenham move as Italian club bids ‘farewell’; big update on Arsenal midfielder chase

A Tottenham target ‘dreams’ of making the switch to north London amid his current club bidding ‘farewell’, Arsenal have discovered their chances of landing an AC Milan star, while Wednesday’s Transfer Gossip claims Everton are looking at a Newcastle player.
ATALANTA MAN ‘DREAMS’ OF TOTTENHAM MOVE
Tottenham have been given a major boost in their pursuit of Atalanta star Ruslan Malinovskyi, with Fabrizio Romano claiming he ‘dreams’ of signing for them.
Last week, Tottenham moved ahead of Nottingham Forest in the race to sign Malinovskyi. They are now in pole position to land the attacking midfielder, as per TuttoAtalanta.
Malinovskyi has apparently ‘said yes’ to linking up with Antonio Conte’s side before the transfer window closes.
He is keen to take the next step in his career after three successful years with Atalanta. And he views Spurs as the perfect next destination.
Now is a great time for Malinovskyi to make the move, too. At 29 years old, he is in his prime. And with his contract set to expire next summer, Spurs could get the Ukrainian for a reduced price.
While speaking on his Here We Go podcast (via the Daily Express), Romano gave an update on Malinovskyi’s future. He claims the star ‘dreams’ of joining Spurs, which is a big boost for their chief of transfers, Fabio Paratici.
Malinovskyi’s stance means it should be relatively easy for Spurs to agree personal terms with him. And he could convince Atalanta chiefs to accept Spurs’ opening offer.
That bid is yet to arrive, though it surely won’t be long. Transfer talks have already got underway regarding Malinovskyi, though they don’t involve Spurs.
Romano states French club Marseille are the only club to launch a move for him so far. Unfortunately for them, this was rejected by Atalanta.
Italian outlet La Repubblica claim Atalanta have already bid ‘farewell’ to Malinovskyi. This comes after Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini said: “Malinovskyi had arrived as a director adapting to the tip of [Josip] Ilicic.
“But it is right that Atalanta choose a more suitable player in the transfer market.
“We spent years chasing an element with Josip’s characteristics. Ruslan is very good but in that attacking role he is adapted despite having done excellent things. But he remains a midfielder.”
It looks as though the Serie A outfit will let Malinovskyi move on this week, with Spurs ready and waiting to pounce.
UPDATE ON SANDRO TONALI TO ARSENAL
Arsenal have seemingly found out whether they will be able to bring in Sandro Tonali from Milan.
The Gunners need to improve their midfield and have set their sights on Leicester City ace Youri Tielemans.
But just in case the Belgian ends up going elsewhere, Arsenal have earmarked Tonali as an alternative signing.
However, Romano states any move for Milan’s 22-year-old star will end in failure. Tonali is viewed as ‘untouchable’ by the Rossoneri, while he is also set to pen a new contract at the San Siro in the coming weeks.
Tonali’s current Milan deal doesn’t expire until June 2026, giving them plenty of time. But they are eager to reward the Italian for his great form and have offered him a one-year extension.
This will make it even harder for Arsenal, or any other interested club, to capture the midfielder from Milan.
Romano also casts doubt over whether Tonali was even an option for Mikel Arteta’s side. He states the player ‘has never been an option for Arsenal’, which could mean they are entirely focused on landing Tielemans.
When it comes to Tielemans, Arsenal have recently been given a lift. As per reports in Belgium, Leicester have dropped their asking price for him.
His value was at £50m last year, before dropping to £38m when he entered the final 12 months of his Foxes contract.
But now, with Leicester wanting to avoid a free-transfer exit, they will accept offers of just £20m. This gives Arsenal the chance to sign one of the best midfielders in the Prem for a cut-price fee.
EVERTON EYE NEWCASTLE MAN
In a rather surprising turn of events, Everton could make a bid for Newcastle attacker Miguel Almiron.
The Paraguayan has hit just 15 goals in 126 matches for Newcastle since joining in January 2019.
Despite his disappointing record in front of goal, Ed Aarons of The Guardian claims Everton are ‘showing an interest’ in Almiron.
The Toffees are desperately scouring England for a new winger amid Chelsea’s pursuit of Anthony Gordon. According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Gordon wants the move and this is making Everton chiefs worried.
Having recently been linked with Joao Pedro and Adama Traore, Everton are now being tipped to move for Almiron.
He cost the Magpies £20m when joining from Atlanta United, which was a club record at the time. But given his underwhelming spell in England, Newcastle wouldn’t be able to charge that same price.
Aarons states Almiron would only leave St James’ Park on a permanent deal.
While the 28-year-old works tirelessly and possesses lightning pace, he is not the right fit for Everton. He lacks a keen eye for goal and can be found wanting when it comes to that final cross or pass.
Of the three potential targets that have been mentioned, Watford’s Pedro would be Everton’s best bet. He has great potential and at 20 years old has plenty of time to grow into a better player than Almiron.
