Tottenham and West Ham have been given hope of raiding Paris Saint-Germain this summer amid claims the French club want to sell four players.
Les Parisiens have won the Ligue 1 title back from Lille after going 13 points clear with four matches left – meaning they cannot be caught by Marseille. Lille, meanwhile, are in danger of missing out on European football altogether as they sit ninth with 51 points.
The campaign could still be seen as a disappointment for Mauricio Pochettino given PSG’s performance in the Champions League.
They went 1-0 up in the first leg of their round of 16 tie with Real Madrid. But a Karim Benzema masterclass in the return leg dumped PSG out, forcing them to wait at least another year for European glory.
It seems club chiefs want to make some big personnel changes this summer. The first man to go could be Pochettino, with Zinedine Zidane a potential replacement.
PSG officials also want to offload several players before bringing in top-class replacements.
French outlet L’Equipe provide an insight into their thinking. They state four players – who are worth around £64million in total on transfermarkt – are gearing up to leave the Parc des Princes.
Leandro Paredes being lined up for Spurs move
The first is Argentine midfielder Leandro Paredes. He has made 22 appearances in all competitions this term.
However, only four of those outings have resulted in a full 90 minutes on the pitch. That’s because Pochettino can also rely on Marco Verratti, Idrissa Gueye, Danilo Pereira, Gini Wijnaldum and Ander Herrera in midfield.
Paredes, 27, recently became a target for Tottenham. According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Antonio Conte ‘would gladly welcome’ him in north London.
Paredes’ contract runs until 2023, meaning this summer is one of PSG’s last chances to sell for a decent fee.
As such, the 44-cap international could end up playing in the Premier League next season. But he is not the only PSG man in line to make this journey.
French left-back Layvin Kurzawa, who can also operate as a central defender, is set to be sold too.
This is good news for West Ham, who were targeting the Frenchman in January. They couldn’t get a deal over the line, but a transfer might now go through later this year.
Kurzawa may show signs of rust, were he to arrive at the London Stadium. That’s because the 29-year-old has only featured once this campaign.
Nevertheless, he has gained plenty of experience playing for PSG over the past seven years and might just improve David Moyes’ defence.
The other stars who could secure summer transfers are Julian Draxler and Thilo Kehrer. English clubs are yet to register interest in them, though.
