Antonio Conte to dismiss Tottenham signing of Dortmund star, gifting Liverpool free run at goal machine

Liverpool appear set to move into pole position for a Dortmund attacker after a pundit explained why Antonio Conte will not want Tottenham moving for him.

Dortmund are at risk of losing several of their most important players in the new year. Central midfielder Jude Bellingham is the player most heavily linked with a transfer away from the club.

He is on the radars of pretty much all of Europe’s biggest clubs. But it is Liverpool and Real Madrid who are pushing hardest to sign him.

Real believe they have the upper hand thanks to their president, Florentino Perez, having a good relationship with Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke. However, Liverpool remain firmly in the pursuit and cannot be written off just yet.

Forward Karim Adeyemi is another player who might swap Dortmund for a truly elite team in 2023. Ralf Rangnick recommended him to Manchester United during his interim spell in charge at Old Trafford. And Red Devils chiefs are keeping an eye on the German’s development.

There is also left-back Raphael Guerreiro. West Ham and Leeds are preparing to do battle over his signature as they look to bolster their respective defences.

Young striker Youssoufa Moukoko could follow those players out of Dortmund. The 17-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season.

This sets up a potential move away from Dortmund in January. This would be BVB’s best bet so they can at least make some money back on the starlet.

Youssoufa Moukoko is deadly in front of goal

Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd are all interested in taking Moukoko on board. And it is no surprise, given his incredible scoring record.

He bagged 90 goals in 56 matches for Dortmund U17s, resulting in a promotion to their U19 squad. 47 more goals came in just 25 appearances for them.

Moukoko is yet to replicate that stunning form at senior level. So far he has found the net 11 times in 59 games for the Dortmund first team.

However, the Germany international clearly knows where the goal is. And at just 17, he has plenty of time to bulk up and make a big mark in Europe.

As per a recent report from 90Min, Spurs have sent scouts to watch Moukoko in action for Dortmund.

But former Leeds player Noel Whelan reckons Conte will veto a possible move for the youngster, mainly due to his lack of experience.

“The one thing we’ve seen from Conte with his signings is that he wants it now,” Whelan said during an interview with Football Insider.

Conte doesn’t have ‘luxury’ other managers possess

“The players he has bought have needed to go straight into the first team. They don’t have the luxury that other teams have where they can give game time to younger players.

“They need a ready-made player, someone who can hit the ground running. Someone with experience, at a good age and with maturity. Someone who knows the game and can adapt to how they play.

“They need someone who is definitely ready for the Premier League.”

Jurgen Klopp would love it if Spurs posed no threat for Moukoko. This would give Liverpool a much better chance of landing him in 2023.

Of course, Chelsea and Man Utd may still pose a threat to Liverpool. But Klopp has a great relationship with Dortmund from his time managing there and this could tip the scales in Liverpool’s favour for the Moukoko signing.

Meanwhile, a prime Man Utd target may end up joining Liverpool after he made a big admission about Virgil van Dijk.
