Tottenham have confirmed the signing of central midfielder Yves Bissouma from Brighton and revealed how long his contract in north London will last for.
Antonio Conte’s side agreed a fee with Brighton for Bissouma’s transfer on Tuesday. The Mali international then travelled to London to complete a medical and pen his Tottenham contract.
And the north London outfit have now revealed Bissouma as their latest capture. He becomes the club’s third senior arrival of the summer after Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster.
According to The Times, Tottenham will pay Brighton £25million for Bissouma. The Seagulls had been hoping to receive £30m for him but didn’t have much bargaining power left as he was heading towards the final 12 months of his deal on the south coast.
Spurs reveal the 25-year-old has signed a four-year contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which will keep him there until June 2026.
The move is just relying on a work permit before it can officially go through.
Bissouma featured 28 times under Graham Potter last season. He chipped in with two goals and two assists as Brighton managed to finish ninth in the Premier League.
Arsenal and Aston Villa were among the clubs hoping to land Bissouma, who has won 18 caps for Mali.
Tottenham get Yves Bissouma for bargain fee
But Brighton held off any previous advances, before Spurs struck a deal earlier this week.
It is another impressive capture as Bissouma has previously been valued at £50m.
Bissouma, Perisic and Forster will aid Spurs in their Premier League and Champions League campaigns next season.
Former midfielder Jamie O’Hara has already said the capture is ‘extra sweet’ because Arsenal lost out.
“I think he’s a great signing for Spurs, I really do,” the pundit said. “I really liked him last season at Brighton – athletic, good on the ball, strong, shows good quality. He’s a really good signing.
Spurs agree deal for Yves Bissouma
Spurs have agreed a £25 million deal for Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma.
“What I love about it is the fact that again it’s another signing that Spurs are going to get done early doors.
“The Bissouma move is extra sweet for Spurs fans. That’s the biggest thing right now, Spurs are getting players over their rivals like Arsenal.”
Bissouma could appear in a Spurs shirt for the first time during their pre-season fixtures, which start on July 13.
Conte and his team will return to competitive action on August 6 when they host Southampton in the Prem.
Meanwhile, Conte is reportedly ‘crazy’ about Lautaro Martinez and Spurs are resultantly planning to move for him.
