Watford are in advanced talks with goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann over a new deal at Vicarage Road, TEAMtalk understands.

Bachmann is entering the final year of his contract with the Hornets and the club are keen to secure the long-term future of the Austrian.

Contract talks have been positive and Watford are hoping to tie down Bachmann to a new deal before the start of the new EFL Championship season, which gets underway in less than two weeks time.

Bachmann has firmly established himself as No 1 keeper at Watford in recent seasons and he is set to remain first choice under new Hornets boss Valerien Ismael.

Keeping Bachmann will come as a big boost to Watford as they want to mount a bid for promotion back to the Premier League after a disappointing campaign last term in which they finished 11th.

The 29-year-old came close to joining Manchester United last season as back-up to David De Gea before opting to remain at Watford.

Bachmann joined Watford from Stoke City in the summer of 2017 and he has made 86 appearances and kept 29 clean sheets during his time at the club.
