Trusted source sees West Ham in a good position to land prolific forward Darwin Nunez

Darwin Nunez, Benfica, March 2022.

West Ham are well placed to complete the signing of Benfica striker Darwin Nunez, who they pursued in January, thinks Fabrizio Romano.

Nunez was a major target of West Ham’s in January. Indeed, they made an attempt to sign the Uruguayan, but the late timing made it impossible to get through in time.

It is clear why the Hammers put so much emphasis on Nunez. The 22-year-old has truly come into his own in front of goal this season.

Nunez has scored 20 league goals for Benfica this term. That haul makes him the Liga Portugal’s top scorer, separating him from the second-best total by five goals.

Furthermore, there may be cause for optimism among West Ham fans come the summer.

Transfer guru Romano claims the Hammers are still in the hunt for Nunez. What’s more, they reportedly have ‘good chances’ of securing the forward.

Given Nunez’s eye for goal, that transfer could maintain David Moyes’ side’s chances of battling for a top-four spot again next season.

What’s more, should they pull it off, it would directly impact other Premier League sides’ transfer plans.

Nunez and Adarabioyo on Hammers shortlist

Tosin Adarabioyo Fulham

In other news, West Ham are reported to be interested in Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo. There will reportedly be a small window of opportunity to land the star in the summer.

The defender has an exit clause, which will come into play come the end of the season.

West Ham could therefore snatch Adarabioyo from Fulham.

That would be a blow to the Craven Cottage outfit, who are in pole position in the Championship at the moment.
