Everton battling West Ham with Inter forward presenting golden opportunity

Inter Milan forwards Lautaro Martinez and Ivan Perisic in Serie A action 2021

West Ham and Everton form the Premier League’s interested parties for an evergreen Inter Milan forward who could soon be on the move, per a report.

Everton and West Ham appear to be going in different directions under their pragmatic managers. The Hammers are going from strength to strength under David Moyes and have shown no signs that their Europa League campaign will be a hinderance thus far.

The Toffees, meanwhile, are labouring without talismanic centre-forward, Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Richarlison had also been absent in recent weeks before making a goalscoring return to action against Watford on Saturday.

The small matter of five goals conceded at the other end was of greater concern, however.

The two clubs hold genuine ambitions of qualifying for Europe each year. If achieved, they will become increasingly reliant on their depth pieces throughout a congested campaign on two fronts.

Now, Goal (citing the Spanish press), claim Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic is on the pair’s radar.

Despite being 32, the lethal winger remains a regular for both club and country. Perisic helped Inter break Juventus’ dominance in Serie A last season,. but his time at the San Siro may be coming to an end.

The Croatian’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign. Inter’s well documented financial difficulties could ensure Perisic isn’t offered fresh terms.

The report cites interest from the Bundesliga where Perisic previously spent time with Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich. But of greater interest to English fans is Everton and West Ham’s roles.

The Premier League pair are reportedly monitoring Perisic’s situation. Furthermore, it’s claimed the forward possesses a play-style ‘ideal’ for the all-action Premier League.

Of course, the option of signing a contract extension at Inter cannot be discounted and is acknowledged in the article.

Nonetheless, Perisic could potentially be on the move next summer and as a free agent, would represent exceptional value for either Everton or West Ham.

West Ham striker plans meet Newcastle roadblock

Meanwhile, Newcastle think a January raid on Arsenal is perfectly viable despite interest from West Ham.

West Ham had previously been linked with Gunners contract rebel, Alexandre Lacazette.. David Moyes is short of depth behind Michail Antonio and has a Europa League campaign to juggle.

However, the Daily Express report Newcastle are in the frame. Citing the Daily Star, they claim Lacazette is ‘on the club’s radar’

Furthermore, Newcastle reportedly see Lacazette as a ‘realistic’ signing given his contract status.

Arsenal would reportedly allow Lacazette to leave if a suitable bid is lodged. Stumping up an amount Arsenal deem worthy won’t be a difficult task for Newcastle.
