West Ham preparing raid on Bournemouth for Jordan Zemura as Moyes ponders formation change

Jordan Zemura Bournemouth

West Ham United are reportedly considering a move for Bournemouth left-back Jordan Zemura as David Moyes ponders a formation change for the upcoming campaign.

The Hammers have been fairly active in the summer window so far, landing Nayef Aguerd from Stade Rennais, Flynn Downes from Swansea and signing Alphonse Areola on a permanent deal from PSG.

But it looks like Moyes wants to bolster his defensive ranks further by landing Cherries star Zemura.

talkSPORT claims that the Hammers are keeping tabs on the Zimbabwe international after an excellent 2021-22 campaign.

Zemura scored three goals and added an assist as Scott Parker’s men won promotion back to the Premier League.

However, he is heading into the final year of his contract and could be available for a cut-price fee.

The report does add, however, that Bournemouth are ready to step up contract negotiations. That is largely down to West Ham‘s interest in the full-back.

Zemura opens up Moyes’ options

Moyes’ interest stems from wanting to use Zemura as a wing-back, with Aaron Creswell switch to a back three.

That was a formation the Hammers boss preferred to use on occasion last season. However, he could only do it when he had the right players at his disposal.

Zemura provides a good attacking threat and would be a top signing for the right price.

There is no mention on what he might cost in the report. But according to transfermarkt it’s less than £3million, which does seem way too low.

Bournemouth are also unlikely to want to sell one of their most consistent performers from last season. They will hope that a new deal can be struck before the end of the summer window.
