Ismaila Sarr transfer stance confirmed as West Ham receive major boost in pursuit of Watford duo

West Ham are reportedly stepping up their interest in landing Watford duo Emmanuel Dennis and Ismaila Sarr this summer.

Both players were key for Watford as they fought hard to avoid relegation last season. Unfortunately for them, they could not steer the club away from the bottom three, and Watford will spend next season in the Championship. However, both Sarr and Dennis could be handed a Premier League lifeline by David Moyes.

West Ham have been linked with a move for the duo for some time now, as first reported by Claret & Hugh.

Now, the Hammers have been handed a major boost in their pursuit.

Watford sporting director Cristiano Giaretta confirmed both players are looking to leave the club.

However, he also stated that if an acceptable bid is not delivered, both players will remain at Watord.

He told the Watford Observer: “They would like to leave and have been looking at potential moves, but they are not causing us any problems.

“They are not banging on our door to get away as soon as they can.

“They will stay at the club if the market doesn’t deliver something we think is acceptable. In the same way Sarr stayed with us the last time we were in the Championship.”

Sarr made 22 league appearances for the club last season, with a total of seven goal contributions.

Dennis made 30 league appearances for Watford having joined the club last summer from Club Brugge. In that spell, he scored 10 times and assisted a further six.

Reports suggest that David Moyes is serious about pulling off this double swoop. The manager is said to be impressed with how both players performed last season.

However, it is unclear if West Ham are close to submitting bids close to Watford’s asking price.

Should the deals go through, it would solve a lot of West Ham’s problems from last season. The club have just one recognised striker in Michail Antonio, and struggled in front of goal.

Following Watford’s relegation, the club will have to adjust their asking price for players as they no longer hold Premier League power.

That being said, it has not been reported exactly how much West Ham would have to offer to land the duo.
