Erik ten Hag eyeing transfer of West Ham ace Bowen for Manchester United upon arrival

Jarrod Bowen, West Ham, April 2022.

New Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly keen on signing West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen when he arrives at the club.

Bowen has been one of the standout players in the Premier League this season. He has scored 10 goals and provided eight assists for West Ham.

That puts him within the top 12 for goals, and the top six for assists across the whole of the league. Furthermore, his 16 goals in all competitions puts him way ahead in terms of West Ham‘s top scorers.

The next biggest haul is from Michail Antonio, with 11 goals. Indeed, Bowen has been West Ham’s brightest attacking spark this season.

The Hammers could face competition to keep their star man, though.

Reports from the Spanish media suggest that Manchester United may make an attempt to sign him. New manager Ten Hag is reportedly keen on the winger.

The Dutchman will no doubt have big plans for the squad. Recruiting players who have performed in the Premier League seems a decent idea to improve their options.

There have not been many more impressive players in England this season than Bowen.

West Ham offer 3 players big new contracts

West Ham are offering Jarrod Bowen, Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek new contracts but who will sign?

And with a lot of potential outgoings – Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba to name a couple – top inbound transfers will be key.

Should Lingard make the move to West Ham that many thought he would this season, he and Bowen could switch places at the respective clubs.

West Ham should have optimism over Bowen

West Ham pair Jarrod Bowen and Declan Rice

Should United come knocking for Bowen, West Ham should be optimistic that they will be able to keep hold of him. They have been clear that they will not budge on their valuation of Declan Rice, and the same will likely be true for Bowen.

Furthermore, the winger is under contract at the London Stadium until 2025. That, coupled with his quality, could make him a very expensive man.

Moyes is clearly an admirer of Bowen, so he will not want to see him leave without a fight.

As such, it may be a tough task for United to snatch the star from the east Londoners.
