Mixed feelings for West Ham as extent of injury to star player Jarrod Bowen is revealed

Jarrod Bowen, West Ham, March 2022.

Jarrod Bowen suffered no significant damage following his injury for West Ham against Liverpool and will only miss two games.

Bowen has been one of, if not the most crucial player, in the Hammers’ team this season. Indeed, the winger is the club’s top scorer, with 12 goals in all competitions, as well as nine assists.

The 25-year-old’s rise to becoming one of West Ham’s most important assets has come at the right time.

The Hammers are battling for a top-four finish, and are also in the last-16 of the Europa League. Of course, having Bowen firing on all cylinders will be important for the side’s chances in both competitions.

David Moyes’ side suffered a scare during their last game, as Bowen had to be helped off the Anfield turf in the 1-0 defeat to Liverpool.

Moyes was “worried” about the potential that the star could have been out for some time.

However, West Ham confirmed on their website that Bowen sustained ‘no significant damage’ following an MRI scan.

Claret&Hugh have quoted a report from The Athletic which has stated that Bowen is likely to miss the next two games, against Sevilla and Aston Villa.

Missing the first leg of the Europa League last-16 tie is an especially big blow for the Hammers. Indeed, West Ham would want to field their best players against a side that has won four out of the last seven Europa League competitions.

However, everyone at West Ham will be at ease knowing such a big player will not be out for too long.

Onana could join Bowen in Hammers team

In other news, West Ham are reportedly keen on adding young Belgian midfielder Amadou Onana to their ranks.

Moyes is reportedly impressed with what he has seen from the midfielder.

The Hammers, or any other side for that matter, would reportedly need to part with more than £20million for Onana.

That could be a wise investment, given the youngster’s promise at just 20 years old.
