West Ham overtake Napoli in pursuit of PSG man, with team-mate Thilo Kehrer also poised to join

It looks set to be a busy few days for West Ham as they reportedly move closer to landing three new players, including two from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Irons have already made numerous impressive signings in the summer transfer window. They include deals for Nayef Aguerd, Gianluca Scamacca and Maxwel Cornet.
But David Moyes needs more new faces at the London Stadium if West Ham are to compete in both the Premier League and Europa Conference League, as well as the domestic cup competitions.
With this in mind, West Ham chiefs are aiming to bring in three players from two major clubs.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, they have made an approach to Chelsea about the availability of Emerson Palmieri.
They were originally hoping to sign Serbia international Filip Kostic from Eintracht Frankfurt, only for him to join Juventus instead.
Emerson is now their prime target at left-back and those at West Ham are hopeful of getting the deal done soon.
Two PSG players could follow Emerson, 28, to West Ham this month. As per The Sun, who cite Italian outlet La Repubblica, the east London outfit are in a transfer race for Keylor Navas.
Keylor Navas a target for West Ham and Napoli
The veteran goalkeeper might leave PSG after losing his starting spot to Gianluigi Donnarumma. He has two years left on his contract in the French capital, though West Ham could pick him up on the cheap due to him being 35 years old.
Moyes’ side aren’t the only team who want to capture Navas. Napoli are providing competition for his services.
However, West Ham are thought to be in the driving seat to complete a deal right now. That’s because they are preparing to offer Navas higher wages than Napoli.
Of course, Napoli are a major club in Europe and could lure Navas in with the offer of Champions League football. West Ham, in comparison, will play in UEFA’s third-tier competition this season.
But the report states wages are a big factor for Navas and this could see West Ham triumph in the transfer pursuit.
Thilo Kehrer may also swap PSG for West Ham this summer. Moyes is desperate for new centre-backs to arrive amid injuries to Aguerd, Craig Dawson and Angelo Ogbonna.
Signing Kehrer, a 20-time Germany international, appears to be a good solution. And according to The Sun, West Ham are confident of bringing in the defender this week.
West Ham in race to get players through the door
They are rushing through his deal, along with Emerson’s, and want the pair to feature against Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday.
Kehrer is in the final 12 months of his contract at the Parc des Princes. This means PSG have had to lower their asking price.
They are willing to accept £16m for Kehrer, a sum which West Ham look set to match.
All three of these players have Champions League experience, which will prove beneficial to Moyes in the next few years.
Admittedly, they are not regular starters at their respective clubs. However, West Ham are in dire need of defensive reinforcements and this means they cannot go for the biggest names. Plus, their lack of serious funds would not allow them to do this.
An alternative to Kehrer for West Ham is Manchester United’s Eric Bailly, who is set for pastures new following the arrival of Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
