West Ham make contact with pair of Italy internationals as striker hunt hots up

Sassuolo star Gianluca Scamacca

West Ham are reportedly chasing Sassuolo pair Giacomo Raspadori and Gianluca Scamacca as David Moyes looks to bolster his squad.

Raspadori, 22, played as a second striker and out wide for the Serie A side last season. And his stats were impressive 10 goals and six assists in 36 league games.

Raspadori has been capped 13 times by Italy boss Roberto Mancini. And he featured in the recent games with Hungary, Italy and England.

He also scored twice against Turkey earlier this year and looks a decent bet to make the Azzurri’s World Cup squad.

West Ham have enquired about Raspadori, who is under contract until 2024, according to 90min. And the Hammers have also asked about Scamacca, 23, who blasted 16 Serie A goals for Sassuolo.

Scamacca has also been capped by Italy and he also featured against Germany and England.

Arsenal have been linked with Scamacca and Gazzetta dello Sport have stated that the Gunners have had a bid of around £35m for the striker knocked back.

Moyes hunting striker options

West Ham are understood to be keen on wide attackers and Jesse Lingard and Raphinha are of interest. But the club are also looking to strengthen their striking options.

Moyes is desperate to get some cover and competition for Michail Antonio. And the Italian pair are on West Ham’s target list.

The report claims the Italian side may be willing to cash in on one of the pair. The pair’s values are certainly increasing quickly.

The Emilia-Romagna-based side signed Uruguay striker Agustin Alvarez last week and they may be willing to move one of Raspadori or Scamacca on.

West Ham also have Hellas Verona striker Giovanni Simeone on their radar as they look to push through at least one striker deal this summer.

While head of recruitment Rob Newman has also scouted Udinese striker Beto ahead of a potential approach.
