West Ham are ready to submit an official bid in their efforts to lure striker Armando Broja from London rivals Chelsea, while Saturday’s Transfer Gossip claims that Arsenal are lining up a replacement for wantaway defender William Saliba.
HAMMERS TO LAUNCH OFFICIAL BROJA BID
West Ham have reportedly stepped up their interest in Chelsea striker Armando Broja, with an official bid being submitted.
The Albania forward spent last season on loan at Southampton and showed flashes of quality that put him on the radars of a number of clubs.
Indeed, Broja scored nine goals in 28 games for the Saints in all competitions.
He has since returned to Stamford Bridge but is wanted by the Hammers, Newcastle and Everton.
But it appears that the former have the most concrete interest and could be closing in on a deal.
David Moyes is on the hunt for at least one new frontman due to continued injury concerns over Michail Antonio.
Broja a potential Antonio replacement
The 32-year-old Jamaica international is coming to the latter stages of his career and West Ham are looking for his long-term replacement.
At just 20 years of age, Broja certainly fits the bill in that regard.
The introduction of five subs next year will also give more opportunities to fringe first-teamers.
So will Broja could move and find himself on the bench, he should have plenty of options to stake his case for a starting place.
ARSENAL TURN TO LEVERKUSEN STAR AMID SALIBA CONCERNS
Arsenal are reportedly ready to reignite their interest in Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba amid uncertainty over William Saliba’s future at the club.
Mikel Arteta is eyeing defensive reinforcements after missing out on Lisandro Martinez. The Argentine is close to completing a £46million switch to Manchester United.
But with Saliba reportedly ready to quit the Gunners if he isn’t guaranteed more starting time, Arteta needs another centre-back on board.
The 21-year-old, who joined a successful loan spell at Marseille last season, has been told by France boss Didier Deschamps that he needs to be playing regularly to earn a place in the World Cup squad.
But with Gabriel Magalhaes and Ben White firmly in place as Arteta’s first-choice centre-back pairing, that will be tough.
And with Saliba potentially leaving, that opens the door for a new arrival.
According to FootballTransfers, the Gunners are plotting a swoop for Burkina Faso star Tapsoba.
The 23-year-old has made 67 appearances for Leverkusen since joining for £21m from Vitoria de Guimaraes in 2020.
He is currently valued at between £34m and £42m by the Bundesliga outfit.
That figure could, however, be a little steep for a player who could end up as backup.
However, if Tapsoba does sign he will also give Arteta the ability to play three at the back.
CHELSEA TO SNAP UP YOUNG KEEPER
Gabriel Slonina’s agent Jaime Garcia has informed Chicago Fire that they reached an agreement on personal terms with Chelsea.
Transfer insider Fabriazio Romano has revealed that the Blues will now submit an official bid. That offer is expected to be around £8.5million plus add-ons.
Slonina will, however, stay at Chicago on loan for the time being.
The 18-year-old has enjoyed a rapid rise over the past year, winning the No.1 jersey at Chicago and going on to make 31 appearances for the club so far, already keeping 12 clean sheets.
He has also been capped across all youth levels for USA.
