West Ham United transfer news: Hammers in the hunt for Moise Kean but deal could hinge on Juve

West Ham United are reported to be lining up a summer swoop for Everton striker Moise Kean, who is currently on loan with Italian giants Juventus.

David Moyes has a new striker high on his wanted list and a host of names have been linked. Kean is the latest as reports in Italy suggest a deal could be in the pipeline. That would involve Juve playing ball which may not be out of the question.

The 22-year-old re-joined his former club at the start of the season on a two-year loan deal. It has been suggested that Juve have the option to buy for £24million at the end of the term.

However Kean has hardly ripped up trees back in Serie A. Indeed he has scored just five goals for the Old Lady, who sit fourth on the table. They would have been hoping for a much better return than that.

Some reports have claimed Juve will stay patient with the player. They will keep the faith in the hope he matures and finally realises his potential. There has even been talk of signing him permanently this summer for a cut-price fee.

However Tuttosport have other ideas and say they would be happy to move him on. Everton will not be interested in taking him back. He managed just two goals in 32 appearances and the move has not worked out.

Everton will be keen to sell the striker on a permanent basis at some point. But for now they will be happy to have him off the wage bill at Juve.

West Ham could now come into the equation. Whether they take over the loan deal or sign him permanently from Everton is unclear. But they are said to be in the hunt regardless of how they do it.

West Ham should maybe steer clear

Signing Kean would be a huge gamble for West Ham. Kean has potential no doubt. He showed it early in his career with Juve when bursting on to the scene. He bagged seven goals in 16 games which prompted Everton to get the cheque book out.

But it has not worked out. He impressed again on loan at PSG last season with 13 goals in 26 appearances. So it is pretty clear that Kean may be more suited to the continent rather than the Premier League.

With that in mind the Hammers may be best letting Kean see out his loan with Juve and move on to other targets. If Jarrod Bowen does move on his 12 goals will take some replacing. The stats say Kean may not be the man to do it.
