Kurt Zouma claims West Ham star is more than a match for Harry Kane

Kurt Zouma has revealed that one West Ham star is comfortably a match for Tottenham striker Harry Kane ahead of Sunday’s London derby clash.

The France defender is well aware that he will have his work cut out with the England skipper this weekend. However, it’s nothing new for Zouma, who admits facing Michail Antonio in training every day is just as tough as tackling the Spurs goal machine.

David Moyes’ men go into the game a point behind their bitter London rivals. However, they are in good spirits after thumping Genk 3-0 in the Europa League on Thursday night. Meanwhile, a second-string Spurs side lost 1-0 at Vitesse.

Speaking ahead of the game, Zouma told the Evening Standard: “There are so many clubs in London — you play against Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, it is always a derby.

“The motivation is always there. You want to rule the city, so you have to beat them. I’m a West Ham player now and everything that happened at Chelsea stays at Chelsea. We just want to win those derbies.”

“You never know what can happen with him [Kane],” he added. “You always have to be focused and concentrated and tight on him. But a game is not about one player, it is about the team, the way they play, the shape.

Genk forward Paul Onuachu is reportedly in demand as Spurs are set to rival West Ham for his signature, with more updates on Dusan Vlahovic and Declan Rice.

“You have to be even more focused on them, but you cannot change your style, the way you prepare for the games. I always keep the same and I know that the player is great, but also the team around him.”

Kane’s role with England meant Antonio was often overlooked by Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate. That prompted the Hammers star to switch his allegiance to Jamaica instead.

Antonio tough to handle

And, ahead of the showdown with Kane and Spurs, Zouma has revealed what makes Antonio a “top striker”.

He added: “Trust me, he is very difficult to handle. He’s got everything — fast, accurate, dangerous, good on the ball, good finisher. He can hold the ball very well, his movements are good.

“I mean a top striker at the minute — and you can see he is flying.”

Antonio has notched six Premier League goals so far this season and previously scored three times against Tottenham.
