Wolves to beat Rangers to deadline-day transfer of classy midfielder

Juventus pair Arthur Melo and Aaron Ramsey

Juventus are trying to push Aaron Ramsey out of the exit door on transfer deadline day with Wolves and Rangers understood to be keen on signing the midfielder.

Ramsey has been on the radar of many Premier League sides this month. Newcastle United, Crystal Palace and Burnley have all joined Wolves in pursuit of the Welshman. Juve want the former Arsenal man out of the Turin club, but he has failed to agree a move to date.

Ramsey’s move to Turin has proved to be a mistake. He has completed a full 90 minutes just once since he joined in from Arsenal in 2019. He has only featured for 112 minutes this term and Juve want his huge salary off their books.

Now, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, Rangers have entered the bidding for Ramsey.

“Negotiations are underway” with Rangers as Juve desperately try and offload the 31-year-old.

The Bianconeri are working hard to get a deal over the line with the Ibrox club, but Ramsey will have to accept their personal terms.

Ramsey is sat on a contract until 2023, worth a reported £400,000 before tax. So the Wales star must decide whether to take a huge reduction on his wages or sit on the sidelines in Serie A.

Ramsey pay-off talk

Last month La Repubblica claimed the former Cardiff man was asking for some of his remaining salary to be paid up before he tore up his contract in Turin.

That fee was said to be around £6m, but Juve did not agree to the proposal.

Meanwhile, Burnley’s interest in the midfielder remains. They could still push a deal through should they get the chance.

But according to TEAMtalk sources Wolves are now the favourites to agree a deal with Ramsey.

The Molineux side were interested in Ramsey last year, but failed to get a transfer over the line.

At the time, Ramsey rejected the proposal. But Juventus are eager to clear Ramsey off the wage bill. And a deal with Wolves is said to be “close”.
