Wolves agree cheap West Ham deal with wantaway attacker to make it a double, as Lopetegui waves goodbye to £27.5m flop in confirmed exit

West Ham stars Michail Antonio and Craig Dawson

Wolves have confirmed an expensive summer signing has left on loan, while a double arrival from West Ham is taking shape with one move agreed and another heavily rumoured, per reports.

Julen Lopetegui’s side have wasted no time this month getting to grips with their perilous predicament. They’re the league’s lowest scorers (12) and sit just two points outside the relegation zone ahead of this weekend’s fixtures.

They’ve been incredibly active in the market thus far as they seek to redress their situation. Indeed, Matheus Cunha has arrived from Atletico Madrid on loan, while Pablo Sarabia will add bundles of creativity after joining from PSG.

The engine room has also been addressed through Mario Lemina’s arrival from Nice. Joao Gomes of Lyon is also wanted and a bid has been tabled, though Lyon are hoping to hijack the move.

In any case, Wolves’ business from an additions point of view is far from over.

Per the Independent and Daily Mail, they’ve struck a £3.3m agreement to sign West Ham veteran, Craig Dawson.

The 32-year-old centre-half has reportedly been looking to move further up north and closer to his family for some time, per the Mail. Moving to Molineux will aid that cause.

The PA reported Dawson could be registered in time to feature in Wolves’ clash with Man City on Sunday.

However, the Mail claim West Ham won’t allow the defender to leave until early next week. Obviously, that’d mean he plays no part for Wolves at the Etihad.

Michail Antonio to follow Dawson into Wolves?

Elsewhere, talkSPORT report Lopetegui could make it a Hammers double by landing Michail Antonio.

The 32-year-old has fallen behind Gianluca Scamacca in the pecking order and his situation is poised to get even worse.

West Ham have secured a deal to add Aston Villa’s Danny Ings to their ranks for around £15m (including add-ons). For a team that plays with a lone striker, Antonio will drop to a distant third in the ranks.

Antonio recently took aim at manager David Moyes when explaining why West Ham are surprisingly in a relegation battle this term.

That perhaps signalled his time in the capital is nearing its end, and talkSPORT claim a reunion with Dawson at Molineux could occur.

Their reporter, Alex Crook, stated Antonio is ‘open to a new challenge’ and Wolves will be ‘keen’ to pounce if West Ham give Antonio the boot.

Crook later added there’s a ‘strong possibility’ Antonio leaves West Ham this month.

Wolves confirm Goncalo Guedes exit

Elsewhere, Wolves have confirmed summer recruit Goncalo Guedes has left on loan.

The Portugal international was a £27.5m signing from Valencia just six months ago, though struggled to make his mark in the Premier League.

Guedes scored just once and provided a single assist in 13 league appearances for Wolves.

His minutes were severely cut once Lopetegui took charge, with just a 17-minute cameo off the bench forthcoming across the Spaniard’s first four league matches at the helm.

Wolves have now confirmed Guedes has returned to his native Portugal upon joining Benfica on a six-month loan.

Fabrizio Romano reported an option to buy has not been included. As such, if Wolves decide to cash in at season’s end, a deal will have to be negotiated from scratch.

Guedes’ entire salary will reportedly be covered by Benfica.
