Bruno Lage claims 90% of people would disagree with decision that went against Wolves in draw they deserved more from
Bruno Lage insisted that Wolves were more deserving of a win than their opponents after their 1-1 draw with Newcastle United on Sunday.
Wolves were on course for their first win of the Premier League season after a long-distance goal from Ruben Neves. However, they were pegged back in the final minute when Allan Saint-Maximin equalised for Newcastle with a strike from range of his own.
It means Wolves are still in the relegation zone of the formative table due to their lack of a win so far. This was their second draw from their four games up to this point, having also held Fulham but lost to Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur.
But boss Bruno Lage believed they deserved more after a particularly controlling performance in the first half.
Lage told Sky Sports: “We did a good game, the way we started and wanted to press.
“First half we controlled everything, especially the way Newcastle play.
“The way they scored the goal at the end of the game – and to be honest we deserved more the three points – it is hard.
“Two decisions in VAR was against us, and it is just one point.”
Bruno Lage takes issue with outcome of Fabian Schar foul on Pedro Neto
One decision Lage was not happy with was the failure to send off Fabian Schar for a foul on his player, Pedro Neto.
The Wolves head coach claimed: “I will say maybe 90% of the people after watching the tackle think it is a red card. I can see the leg of Pedro Neto, it should be a red card in my opinion.
“Why in the other situation the referee comes and takes a decision about the goal, why not this one?”
Wolves will visit Bournemouth on Wednesday for their next fixture of the Premier League season. Given that their opponents will be coming off the back of a 9-0 defeat to Liverpool, it could be a better opportunity for Wanderers to pick up that much-needed first league win.
