Wolves captain Conor Coady has hailed the ‘incredible’ players in the England squad, as well as admitting his goal for his country.

Coady has been a member of the England setup since 2020. He has made eight appearances for the Three Lions to this point.

His solid defensive performances for Wolves have helped him to make England squads time and time again. Indeed, the Molineux outfit have the fourth-best defensive record in the Premier League this season.

Clearly, Coady – along with his defensive partners – is very capable at the back. Furthermore, his leadership qualities can do him no harm in terms of England selection.

His nature as a true leader is clear to see. In fact, Coady’s recent comments regarding his goals for his country reflect that nature very well.

“Just helping people. Keep helping people as much as possible,” he said, via Birmingham Mail.

“There’s lots of competition all over the pitch. I don’t think it’s just at centre-back. There are some incredible English footballers within this country and around the world at the minute. As long as I’m part of this squad and I keep getting picked, it’s about helping people and giving the best of myself every single day.”

Clearly, Coady understands that he might not play every time he makes the squad, but he can help improve those around him.

“My goals are to keep coming here and giving the best of myself every single time I’m called upon to try and help the team, to try and help the country and help my team-mates,” he added.

Indeed, Coady is a massive asset for England, in regards to his desire to help the rest of the squad.

The centre-back understands how much of an honour it is for him to play international football.

“I never get used to the feeling because if you do, I think you become a little bit comfortable,” he said.

“Getting comfortable is something I’ve never done in my life, I never would do. Being called up by your country is the biggest privilege a footballer can ever have in their life, so I’ve never got comfortable and I’ll never take it for granted.”

Clearly, Coady is humble in the knowledge that he is able to play international football, and grateful for the opportunities that come his way.
