Wolves man ‘close’ to completing Championship move, claims reliable source

Wolves centre-back Dion Sanderson is close to securing a transfer to the Championship, according to one reliable journalist.

Sanderson came through the Wolves academy before gaining promotion to their U23 team in July 2018. He joined Cardiff on loan for the second half of the 2019-20 season, in a bid to gain more senior experience.

The 22-year-old made 10 appearances for the club before returning to Molineux. He then secured a similar move to Sunderland later that year.

Sanderson had more of an impact at the Stadium of Light. He featured in 27 matches as the Black Cats finished fourth in League One.

Sanderson once again returned to Wolves with the hope of breaking into the first team, but that did not happen. He was shipped out to Birmingham during the summer transfer window before returning to Wanderers recently.

Sanderson is now on the verge of completing another temporary exit, as per The Athletic journalist Tim Spiers.

He tweeted on Monday (via The Transfer Tavern): ‘Sanderson is close to joining promotion-chasing QPR on loan (they’re fourth, two points off second).’

Spiers also outlined a late move from Sheffield United, although the Blades appear to have been beaten to his services.

It is ‘looking like’ QPR for the player, according to the journalist.

Wolves boss Bruno Lage has a host of options in central defence. Conor Coady, Max Kilman, Romain Saiss, Willy Boly and Yerson Mosquera are at his disposal.

However, the club will be hoping Sanderson can continue his exciting development at QPR before eventually appearing in the first team. The Englishman could be needed next season if Kilman is taken to Manchester United, following a glowing reference by Red Devils boss Ralf Rangnick.

Tottenham fire up Adama Traore talks

Tottenham will ramp up their efforts to sign Adama Traore today and are confident of securing a deal, as per a trusted source.

Spurs have already had an offer worth £15m for the Wolves winger rejected. However, that was never likely to be the end of the story with Wolves reportedly holding out for just £5m more.

Antonio Conte reportedly wishes to convert the 25-year-old into a deadly right-wing-back. Emerson Royal has floundered thus far, while Matt Doherty’s impact since arriving in 2020 has been minimal.

Bruno Lage suggested his side would hold out for a deal that suits them. However, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham will ramp up their pursuit today (Monday).

Romano tweeted Spurs will ‘push’ the move forward today. Talks will re-commence with the ‘final details’ to be discussed. Whether Tottenham have had a raised bid accepted, or whether the transfer fee is on the agenda for today’s talks isn’t stated.

Nonetheless, Tottenham are deemed ‘confident’ of completing a deal to sign Traore before the window closes.
