Wolves transfer news: Morgan Gibbs-White to be handed first-team chance as Leeds among trio eyeing midfielder

Morgan Gibbs-White Sheff Utd loan

Wolves boss Bruno Lage is ready to hand Morgan Gibbs-White the chance to impress in pre-season, as a number of Premier League clubs consider a move, TEAMtalk understands.

The England Under-21 international has enjoyed an outstanding campaign on loan at Championship promotion contenders Sheffield United, who are currently in the play-off places heading into the final games of the regular season.

Gibbs-White has 10 goals and eight assists to his name this term. And his form has not gone unnoticed back at Molineux.

But we understand that other clubs are also keeping close tabs on the player. They include Championship winners Fulham and Premier League strugglers Leeds United and Burnley.

However, Wolves – who handed Gibbs-White a new long-term contract before his move – are ready to rebuff any interest in the 22-year-old.

Indeed, Molineux boss Lage is ready to hand the talented youngster a chance to show he is worth a place in his first team when preparations for the new campaign get underway in July.

Gibbs-White has made 86 appearances in all competitions for Wolves, scoring three times. However, he’s never been able to cement a regular first-team spot – hence the loan moves.

Neves exit could give Gibbs-White his shot

Gibbs-White’s chances of regular game time could well depend on what happens with Ruben Neves this summer.

The Portugal midfielder has enjoyed another impressive campaign, with four goals to his name in 32 appearances.

That has led to yet more speculation about his future. Barcelona, Manchester United and Arsenal all known to be keen on a deal.

However, Wolves have so far remained steadfast about Neves’ future. Indeed, they will not sell the player for anything less than £100million.

Despite that, it will be interesting to see if their approach changes if a significant offer comes in for the player. Knowing that Gibbs-White is waiting in the wings.
