Wolves have completed the signing of VfB Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic, subject to subject to a visa and work permit.

The Premier League side have agreed to pay a fee of around £15.4m for the 6ft 7in Austria international. The 25-year-old arrived in Wolverhampton to complete his medical at Compton Park on Wednesday.

He has signed a five-year-deal, with the option to extend for a further 12 months, subject to international clearance.

The towering striker has been Stuttgart’s leading scorer in the last two seasons with a total of 23 goals.

Wolves’ website reports the striker is “capable of finishing with either foot” and “willing to run behind”.

Kalajdzic will wear the number 18 shirt.

Stuttgart were holding out for £21m

Wolves technical director Scott Sellars told the club’s website: “We are very happy to secure the signing of Sasa, who is a talented young striker, has many excellent attributes to his game and fits the profile that we have been looking for this summer.

“Sasa has had great success in Germany’s Bundesliga. And we are looking forward to seeing what he can do in the Premier League.”

Kalajdzic, who has been capped 15 times by Austria, was understood to be interesting Brighton, Everton and Manchester United.

But Wolves made their move and the striker was left out of Stuttgart’s squad to face Cologne on Sunday after expressing his desire to move to the Premier League.

Despite there being less than a year left on his contract, Kalajdzic has not been allowed to leave for a particularly modest fee. Indeed, Stuttgart had been holding out for a windfall worth £21m.
