Northwich, I am more with you, 2 easy chances missed and a penalty that should not have been. If things go your way they tell a different story. Must admit I was really p…..d off with Sky, all the after match coverage was about Derby making the playoffs and a love in with Frankie boy. Not a mention about us! As to the game itself, I thought both teams started well and there was not much difference between the two teams in the first half. After we scored you could see the desperation in the Derby players faces and see the nervousness in the crowd. That made them want it more and scored twice by a lucky deflection off Hegazi going straight to a Derby player and a dodgy penalty. Think we will be more up for it for the playoff semi’s so feeling hopeful. COYB

I seem to be the only one who thought it was an excellent game and both teams were very even for most of it. Yes, Barry and Livermore tired towards the end of the second half but it could have gone either way. Abraham missed a clear opportunity but then so did Gayle. I must also say that the atmosphere was the best I have seen at the Hawthorns for a good couple of years and am enjoying the football far more than the last 3 years under Pulis/Pardew. I understand the clamour for youth but can also see it from DM’s perspective, if he loses 3 games on the trot their will be a clamour for him to be sacked so you cannot have your cake and eat it. The final question is, are our youngsters as good as we think given neither Pulis, Pardew or Moore have played them consistently?

Come on DH, get off the fence and say what you really think (:-)) Seriously, as in my previous post, 3 managers have not trusted our youth and they see them day in and day out so what makes us think we know better, is it the years of playing Championship Manager.

I think last night proved there is no Plan B because there are no Plan B players in the squad. Aderaboiyoi is not the answer in defence and Field in midfield (though I do think he could be with games). Hoolahan has been OK when he has come on and I think you do need experience above youthful exuberance at times. We can all pontificate on here but unless you see the players day in day out in training none of really know and its all conjecture. 3 managers have not trusted the youngsters so are they really that good, I don’t know. As to the vilification of Brunt, he has been a great servant for the club and can still make a contribution but central defensive midfield, IMHO, is not his position. Barry is better there and Hoolahan.

I agree with all that has been said about this site, it’s frustrating as a user and Teamtalk/Sky are maximising advertising revenue over user experience. As to the Bristol and Milwall games, we were devine going forward and diabolical defending against Bristol but against Milwall the defence was better but at the expense of our attacking. I must say that I have enjoyed the last 7 games far more than the previous 2.5 to 3 seasons (mostly under Pulis). Big Dave is learning and if he could only tighten up the defence and put younger legs into midfield I think we could the there or there-a-bouts. Worryingly, however, our 2 best players are loanees and with out them we would be mid table at best, deals to be done in January me thinks! COYB.

How are teams outside the top 5 or 6 going to catch up. I doubt whether any can, Leicester being the temporary exception in 2015 but ALL below top 6 are at risk of relegation each season. I would wager our budget for that first year in Prem was one of the bottom 3 to 5 just like today. The top 6 earn extra revenue via sponsorship etc and pay inflated prices which drives the market up. We may earn more but we pay out more for the same level of player. The winners are the players and agents, the losers are the clubs and fans below the top 6, it is not a fair playing field! I don’t know when we will be back but I do know I cannot get WBA out of my blood so will continue to support in sickness and health.COYB.

Listen, Pardew is manager, support him till we (or he) goes. Are you not adding to the noise around the club rather than everyone pulling together. Don’t undermine the rest of the season just yet. If we go down then have your say at the end of the season but in the meantime lets all give our best to the effort to stay in the premier league, division will won’t help! COYB

The prevailing theme now seems to be “we are down, lets give up” which is ludicrous. We should not even consider this unless it’s mathematically impossible. There is precedence all around us, look at Palace who lost there first 5 and didn’t score a goal, look at Leicester in 2013 down and buried but won 8 of there last 10 (I think), Newport were about to be kicked out of the league cut adrift and came back to stay up on the last the day of last season. The crowd should get behind AP and the team and do our bit to squeeze every ounce of effort to remain in this league. Then, if we do go down, we can say at least we tried. Giving up now is just plain wrong! COYB.

Providing Gibbs is not to badly injured I would not look at replacing Evans, just bring Dawson into centre back with Hegazi and play Nyom and Gibbs as full backs with McCauley as cover. Sell Evans for £25Million and use the money to either buy a striker (Ings/Austin?) or, if AP thinks JRod will get the goals to keep us up, a midfield playmaker (Cairney?).

I’m siding a little bit with Ciaran here and think credit should be given where it’s due. Yes, we should enjoy the well deserved win but we should be recognised for it as well. We won, not because Liverpool where that bad but because Pardew got the tactics right and JRod took his chances. It made me laugh in the lead up to the game McMannaman said how important the FA Cup was to Liverpool and at the end he said this is the least important competition that Liverpool are is so losing did not matter. The commentary was totally biased and unbalanced. Anyway, we are used to it by now, so it’s on to Citeh on Wednesday. A draw would be a bonus but Saturday against the Saints is a must win. COYB.

Sarky …. A very reasoned post which I totally agree with. I saw more attacking intent and good play during the draw with Everton than in all the matches under Pulis this season. As to transfers, if we sell Evans and put all the money into a striker I will be happy, only problem is every team in the bottom 14 are looking for strikers and we aint that attractive at the moment. Ings on loan with a buy clause if we stay up would be a good option IMHO. Anyway, hope we can scrape that win tonight against the Hammers. COYB.

Agree with the good news, Pulis gone, and bad news, Megson covering, so don’t expect any change is style for Saturday as we have got progressively worse since Megson re-joined. As a replacement I would look at Michael O’Neil, had good success with Norn Iron and seems to get the best out of players. COYB

Didn’t see the Citeh game but was impressed by our first half on Monday. If ever a game was influenced by the referee this was it. The excuse for not giving the penalty was that he played advantage but, if you look at the Ref’s body language, he was never going to give it even though it was blatant. The foul for their goal was dubious at best with Evans actually pulling out of the tackle and the penalty they got would not be given 8 out of 10 times. JRod should have taken one of his chances and agree that Phillips/McClean for Livermoor would have been a better choice. Felt really frustrated after the game due to the referees failings and our own inability to put the ball in the net. Anyway, on to Saturday against Watford where I would like to see a more attacking line up which means Livermoor on the bench and Rondon instead of HRK. COYB.

I really dispair sometimes, the club are damned if the do and damned if they don’t. If I remember correctly Burke was one of the young players to watch a couple of years ago and widely praised for his decision to play abroad. He is young but I do think he will come good.

Sludgy …. What player wouldn’t be swayed by Citeh’s millions eh? I actually think Evans is smarter than that, he left United because he was told he was not in van gaals plans and did not want to fight for his place. I cannot see him playing if Stones, Kompany or Otamendi are fit but with us, he is almost guaranteed his spot when fit. Finally, if Ben Gibson is worth £30M then Evans is worth at least equal and probably more but, disappointingly, if we get that kind of offer I think he will be gone. COYB.

I, for one, will give this signing a chance and think the vitriol is primarily due to timing. If we had bought Barry in as the last signing of the window after bringing in 2 – 4 younger players then the reaction would most likely be that it’s a good move to bring an old head in to have experience around the dressing room. The fact he is first unleashes the demons who will knock the club no matter what. I still say, wait until the 1st September and lets see where we are. COYB.

Derwent, your fighting a Loosing battle, people with a preconceived view will see what they want to see. Don’t get me wrong, the game was no classic and I am not a Pulis fan but what do people expect at this stage of the (pre) season. BTW, Pool v Palace was also not an advert for flowing football (though covered more thoroughly by the media).

Totally agree with you Nortwhich, £8 million would pay for a good defender. However, given some of the prices quoted for mediocre (at best) players I am really concerned that, although the total money has increased, the spending power is going backwards this means the top 6 get further away from the bottom 13. The best we can hope for is to compete to be top of the bottom 13 and avoid a relegation battle. I am not a Pulis fan and would advocate a change of manager, Tuchel is a good shout but he would not come so, realistically, I would take Hodgson back or look at Rowett.
