re benteke —
you aint seen nothing yet !!!!!
he doesnt just hit the target , it also out of the keepers reach ..
he can also score astonishing goals with his feet .
you should finish in top 6 with him .
we have one player who could keep us up – that is traore , our only star quality man .
we have no one else who can penetrate any side .
and it would still be a miracle.
and we will go nowhere under this ownership regime .
I did predict heavy defeats many weeks ago, but thought more recently our defence had improved — which it has .
but our midfielders apart from gana , are squad players only , not must picks .
westwood gives all but lacks quality .
bacuna sometimes plays but mostly doesnt.
vertout disappear much of the game .
non of them can hit the target .
up front we cant play or score , only agbonlahor can worry a defence.
traore is our only real threat and he is immature and injured .
grealish has gone backwards .
i dont think the players are inspired by garde , agbon clearly isnt , and i didnt see richards busting a gut to get forward as hutton does.
we may well have recovered with sherwood, we will never know.
tactically we have no option but to go for broke and attack all out , 3 pointers are the only way now .
we are not yet down by the maths , as soon as we know i hope garde quits .
and most importantly we find a buyer who will grow the club.
yes it would be possible , if we had players like vardy and marez, but in fact we dont have anyone anywhere near that good up front .
we also did not get rid of any dead wood , were still paying nzogbia £60k/wk for nothing .
i hope garde walks away now to show up our dreadful owners .February 1, 2016 at 12:00 pm in reply to: Lighten the Mood – Who are the worse & best signings you can remember! #833588
blanchflower macparland thompson dixon walsh .
there are no new signings .
we need all the threat we can get up front to get goals to get some 3 pointers .
agbonlahor is one of several who offer something up front , although we dont have ONE outstanding striker since benteke.
he offers a threat up front , something we are very short on .
we need that up front .
we need 3 points in many games now .
we need goals to get 3 points , that come with more threat up front .
i very much hope to see agbonlahor get some pitch time against mancity .
i have seen no talk of forwards or midfielder coming , which is what we need .
there is talk of goalkeepers and defenders where we are now well stocked .
something is wrong somewhere .January 25, 2016 at 9:03 pm in reply to: Eric Black poised to join Aston Villa’s coaching staff #819212
secret weapon ?
we shouldnt sell ANYONE in our position , in particular forwards like sinclair and agbon who CAN score/make goals .
It might be different if we bring in some goalscorers , which looks improbable.
it was a good result against a top team , who we brought down to our level .
but we need wins .
the penalty against us was very harsh , the foul on gestede WAS a penalty .
kozak is very rusty but should play , and on yesterdays performance so should gestede .
Ayew reverted to previous displays where he did not show up until the last 20 minutes , worrying as he is a star player .
the defense was mostly ok , midfield is still not good enough , and goals in short supply.
we have improved a lot , but need a lot more .
cissokho is a proper left back , the only one weve had for ages , and should never have been let go – the difference he has made is crucial..
okore and lescott are are best pairing now , so richards will have to play RB .
bacuna played well .
westwood has little talent at this level , bench only .
veretout is good going forward but not defensively.
gana isnt much good going forward so should be played in defensive role .
kozak looks a far better prospect than gestede , even when very rusty and not match fit showed he can play , and he can get goals , may form a partnership with ayew , why garde has sidelined him is a mystery .
we deserved this win , but needed luck to get it , a big step up from the front men is vital , we must get goals to win .
nzogbia has been a dreadful and costly investment , but i would keep agbon and richardson and clark , useful squad men , and agbon can win matches which is what we need , we must keep all our attacking options open now including sinclair and gestede .
and i prefer guzan , bunn is lightweight .
garde clearly hasnt made much difference .
however , until the ownership fiasco is resolved , we will languish in lower leagues.
i think player morale must be at an all time low , and they know they have half a season to get through , with little prospect of a win , and very likely some bad beatings .
well we didnt , confirming certain relegation , with a weak manager , ramshackle team , and dismal owners .
did garde start traore ? no ignoring a gift .
did he give kozak pitch time to get up to speed ? no , another gift , as gestede has shown himself to be a very slow plodder .
another silly goal gets us on the back foot again , richards is not a very bright center back .
bacuna did well except for another silly mistake leading to the final nail .
traore makes lots of mistakes , but is a game winner .
gill had a very poor game except for his goal .
grealish was nothing again , cant see clubs queing up for him now .
cisshoko brought some much needed solidity , why wasnt he recalled sooner – to save a bit of cash ???
no matter now , a win was essential , this match clearly showed which team wanted it more .
benteke is the reason we are going down .
he kept us up more or less single handed .
he will score goals when the rest are all at sea .
managers must play to players strengths , not say the player must fit in .
garde isnt doing this either , with grealish , agbonlahor and traore on the bench.
i agree we looked certain to go down , our only hope now is a good run AND some disasterous runs our peers AND a lot of luck .
so its over then .
i thing garde is being too cautious not starting with traore – he is someone who can win games on his own .
im still not impressed by gana , veretout is a lot better going forward , i thinkwe missed sanchez.
but this team will struggle to win games in any league, not enough goal power.December 24, 2015 at 11:15 am in reply to: Aly Cissokho returns to Villa after Porto loan spell #756830
proper defenders wont keep us up – successful teams have two firing goalscorers such as vardy/mahreez and deeny/ighalo .
if we had that we would be in the top ten.
i cant see where these goals are to come from – certainly not our midfielders.
i cant see any new players coming in who will immediately hit the goal trail .
its quite hopeless – unless grealish and traore step up several notches.
