Timo Werner has penned a farewell letter to Chelsea fans after his return to RB Leipzig was confirmed.

The forward leaves Stamford Bridge having scored 23 goals in 89 games in all competitions.

After the move was confirmed, he wrote on Twitter: “Today marks the end of my journey with Chelsea FC.

“I am incredibly grateful for the time I spent at this special club. At this point I would like to express my appreciation for my team-mates, the coaches and staff, and especially for you, the special supporters of Chelsea Football Club.

“I felt so much love and support throughout the last two years and I will never forget how you guys stood behind me in good and challenging times!

“We lifted trophies like the Champions League together and I will always remember the song you wrote and chanted for me. Iā€™m already looking forward to hopefully playing at Stamford Bridge again one day. See you soon, Timo.”

RB Leipzig have re-signed striker Timo Werner from Chelsea for Ā£25.3m (ā‚¬30m) plus bonuses on a four-year deal.

That’s pretty much half the fee we paid back plus his wages off the books.

Wasn’t great value for the money we can’t claw back though but he did play his part in a champs league win and that was priceless!

Good luck to Timo, always gave his all and ultimately that’s all anyone can demand of a player.

Aubamayang, de Jong and Fofana, the rumours about these 3 just won’t go away.

Regards Auba, I don’t really want him, if it happens I will just hope for the best and take comfort in knowing we have a couple of goals against arsenal guaranteed this season at least šŸ¤£

De Jong, well imo he would be an upgrade on jorginho technically and athletically, but jorginho’s experience is such that I don’t see this as necessary right now. However if juve or napoli offer 25m for jorginho then someone like de Jong would be an amazing replacement.

Fofana, well I can’t believe we are entertaining going higher than the 70m already rejected considering the money spent already, we will be at 250m total if we agree a fee of around 80m. Its actually mental…money aside I think he has everything you want in a prem defender, but it’s a hell of a gamble.

Would go fetch him myself NI šŸ˜†

Still wouldn’t be too surprised if we end up with CR7

Bluelion, I think the way the books are done for transfers is that the fee is amortised across length of contract like wages. I would imagine the fee RB are paying is pretty much what we have remaining on the books from the 47m we paid. Makes sense as it not only clears the remaing fee as far as our books are concerned, but also clears about 30m in wages over next 2 years so we have in effect saved 45-50m on our liability with werner

Not that tricky mtal, it doesn’t matter what kepa is earning, all that matters is what mendy is offered elsewhere, as long as we match that he has no reason to moan.

Lol Niblue you are right! James must have taken 15 corners and nothing came from any of them other than another corner!

    That’s great news bud šŸ‘

He is on massive wages so to clear that and get a fee would be very beneficial.

We paid 47.5m, wonder what we sell him for? I think anything over 30m would be a bonus and honestly would probably accept less.

Yeah Mtal there are plenty of concerns regards this season and too many problems to sort out in one window. I think this pessimism is healthy for us as it will justifiably reduce our expectations and make the season easier to manage, very much like lampards first season.

I judged us strictly last year, I wanted 80 plus points as a clear sign of progression and to close the gap on top 2, ultimately we fell short.

This season, much like lamps first season, I know we are in a hell of a fight for top 4 and that it would be unreasonable to expect more.

The other bonus with have naturally reduced expectations though is the thrill when you exceed them, like we did winning champs league.

Regards the sale of deadwood I agree we are in trouble and may have to rely on loan deals. Ultimately it will drag on even until next summer and so like you I think as soon as window closes the priority should be new deals for the players who are our future and Mount and James are top of that list surely.

So alonso is on his way, werner likely to be loaned out, Kepa likely to be loaned out, and reading today that CHO wants to leave for first team football.

My opinion on that is sell him to highest bidder ASAP and it seems the club have given their blessing for him to talk to other clubs.

I know he got unlucky with that injury but he pretty much took advantage of the transfer ban a few years back to get himself a contract that he hasn’t come close to justifying. He has 2 years left on that so a loan makes no sense. Hopefully if he goes we get a decent fee.

Would love to see the likes of barkley, sarr moved on too and if we are unable to get best out of ziyech it’s best he goes too…but moving these players on is evidently harder than bringing new ones in.

Glad we have a full week before the next game, we are obviously undercooked and it will be a few weeks before we are looking sharp however I would expect to see an uplift in intensity and quality against spurs…we all know that is vital if we are to get a result and yesterday’s game would have helped us too.

    Longest game ever!

Very rusty performance, if it was nil nil we couldn’t argue we deserved more really but 3 points all that mattered today we were never going to get a good performance.

Silva outstanding and everything good went through sterling, he is going to be an important player for us.

Very nervous about spurs at the bridge they look sharper than us and could hurt our aging back 3 on the counter where Everton continually failed today.

We got the team right except for Chilwell starting.

Everton look to be matching us in a 343.

Read that we have made 70m bid for fofana and it was rejected. We probably won’t go higher and probably shouldn’t so I think we can forget about this one and move on
