@steve I’m alive. I would not die without first notifying you.

After 30years in Bangkok I finally moved upcountry to phuwiang in khonkaen provinve. Its famous for dinosaur fossils and a natural park. Seems a fitting place for an old fossil like me to retire. We have 5acres so plan to have a smallholding. And the Good life. We have a shedfulll of ducks and chickens

Anyhow no internet as yet hence me going off the grid. My wife has net om
n her phone so. I read the posts but buggering about with tiny keys and big fingers is too much for a PC man like. me. But it means small posts and no more mega posttz.

Yes he has lived his live in another dimension but he’s royalty and that’s how we breed them. Not sure how much we can blame Andrew for that, especially as the nation laps up Harry’s tears of how he wished he had a normal upbringing.

Let’s be a little fair on the BBC. It did ask the tough questions and bear in mind he was not obliged to do the interview. They can hardly go at him like he were a Jimmy Saville. And its not as if the media in general gives the royals an easy life is it.

You come across not only as a republican but one of the unwashed illiterati in the mob baying for blood and public humiliation. Money is always at the forefront of your arguments eg why should the nation have to pay for Her dogs, they don’t do any work.

I suspect if we wanted to look at the monarchy in purely financial terms, republicans would get a rude awakening were the royalty allowed to bill for all their services. How much do celebs get for shows & appearances? How much could the royals get for their image, naming & TV rights?

That every player in the royal team is not a star is the risk of the game. Not every football signing is., We’ve had good mileage out of ER, a superstar in Diana and decent return on the young royals. You have to take the rough with the smooth and as royals through history go there’s been a lot worse than Andrew.

And we dont have to pay for their upkeep. Payments to royals is in respect of them performing public duties. Government can easily decide to cut back or curtail a royal’s duties and with it goes his wages.

PS – I bet Andrew gets relative peanuts from the public purse in comparison to the director fees companies pay to have a big name on their board.

I haven’t seen the interview, just read reports and seen clips. I agree he seems totally focused on getting himself out of the shite and doesn’t give a monkeys what his pal was up up to.

But why o why does somebody like him have to come up with such lame schoolboy excuse and even argue like a schoolboy. The palace has spin doctors galore on the payroll. He is visiting a pal, his pal has a teenage guest staying with him so there’s nothing wrong with letting her have a photo or even the chance to say she danced with a prince. It would be improper to quiz his host about the girl.

I do have a little (not much) sympathy though. These girls are of dubious character. The one with Andrew in the photo doesn’t look like she’s in distress being trafficked. These girls were quite happy to to pocket a a few hundred bucks for a happy ending massage while their schoolmates were probably jerking off some spotty teenager in the back seat at the drive-in for a burger and fries. Here she has chance to go to a famous disco in London, dance with a handsome prince and get a right royal f**king.

As regards, taxpayer money, the state has to ensure he has an adequate living standard. We can’t have the son of the monarch sitting on the corner with a tin cup or even worse, selling gossip to the tabloids.

PS – Incidentally where are the parents and perhaps school in this. Daughter has lot of money and flying off abroad with a millionaire.

@killyboye- True but the PL is littered with players we wish we’d had in our academy -e the fish that got away.

Problem is we don’t have comprehensive data on which to base assessments of acaadamey performance. The club should have it and do data analysis and performance reviews but my bet is they dont.

The club is happy to pay out 100m on players who are far from a safe bet. Seems to me it would be profitable to make the academy perform better. the prime purpose of youth set up is to feed the first team. Results the past decades have been woefull. And what innovations, modernisations, improvements have their been in the system and set up. None.

I wouldn’t throw the book at the coach but it would go down as a big minus in his record sheet.

His job is spot signs of talent at an early age, he’s not expected to get it right every time but we cannot use age as a reason to excuse him.

We need some data to support the claim they get it right most of the time. Looking from who has made it to the first team the past 3 years I dont see many successes.

Fans are unfair on the club and Ole when it comes to fees paid. We’re going to get ripped off and no signing will be worth what we pay. Fans expect us to pick the winning lottery ticket when it comes to transfers and sign a Ronnie (who was not cheap)every time.

I dont care about the price, if he’s good its worth it and if not then move him on asap write the fee off as the cost of poor judgement.

The problem is not Fergie’s players still calling him Boss, it’s Fergie’s players are still here !!!!!!!!

I predicted when SAF retired we would not challenge for the title for as long as any of Fergie’s player (bar DDG) remained at the club. Looks like that prediction will come to pass.

Back to topic, its up to Ole how he chooses to handle it. He could ignore it or could make Young run around the pitch 10 times chanting Ole is the Boss.

As somebody who lived in Saudi there is no doubt they are not “fit and proper” but few owners are and certainly not the Glazers. I bet Glazer money has helped make lives more miserable for many a Palestinian. Conversely, as dictators go the Saudis are not that bad. Yes many of their laws are strict in comparison to ours but people know the score and if they keep their noses clean they can live a good life.

And if we want to get all holier than thou when it comes to who owns what, why single out football. Boycot Harrods, plush hotels and all saudi holdings. Ask the petrol attendant if you can have a tank full of non-Saudi petrol.

That said, sports clubs should not be treated as companies, the government should legislate to make them part of the community.

I had a sneaky feeling we might win. These early round cup ties can be strange affairs since they often depend on who cares about it the most. I disagree with those who have no interest in the EL and mickey mouse cups.

    Anyhow, job done.

Norwich are relegation fodder, despite our poor run and performances we should have enough to beat them. If not, then we deserve relegation ourselves.

As time goes by our youngsters should be settling in and therefore improving. I dont think our bad streak can continue, there has to be an upturn, at least in terms of scraping 3 points against bottom half of the league teams.

I’m going to be bold, and go for a 1-3 away win.

@happyhurling – Fair do’s, you hold you hand up. Incidentally a University of Stafford research project found that 79% of men who messed waitresses about with their orders were “bum patters” although only 12% would admit to it. But that’s a topic for another day.

@happyhurling – Changing mind is alright but not when its done as quickly and as often as you do it. I have visions of you in a cafe with a waitress. You order tea, then after she’s written it down in her pad change it to coffee, then as she gets baack to the counter you yell out to make it tea. And when she brings the tea you claim you ordered coffee and demand she change it. Then you argue how you dont flip flop !!!

JM poor results, style and performances were done playing first team or squad players. Most of Oles team are youth. JM for the most part had the team he wanted, Ole is way short and even has to make do losing his striker.

We forgive young players saying they will learn and improve but dont apply that same logic to young managers. The manager is “clueless” or “out of his depth”.

But in your case happyhurling, if we went on a good run you do another flip flop and suddenly Ole is not clueless. JM and LvG never knew their best XI even after 2 years !!

I can’t be bothered to look it up but our performances in the EL under Jose were woeful considering the opposition.

Ole can get better, JM never would change.

If maybe then perhaps ….. several tipped a United win or draw precisely because (as a poster pointed out) current form, league position, team strength etc. go out of the window for a United Pool game, its like a cup game where anything can happen.

And it follows that the result of the game be it win lose draw is meaningless as an indicator of how things will be next week. The concept of “building on” doesn’t exist outside of fans imagination.

Why do people keep on saying Sanchez was free, he wasn’t. We gave Mikki for him who was valued at 35m.

This article discussed the same topic as the BBC one https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/oct/17/manchester-united-recruitment-ed-woodward

the executive vice-chairman admits recruitment strategy was dysfunctional in the wake of Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.

Incidentally the article also says …..

Privately the hierarchy accept that Moyes had almost no chance of success because United retained the structure that had worked so productively for Ferguson, his predecessor. There is a further acknowledgment that the prevailing reason for the flatlining of the side and failure to challenge for the title in the six years since Ferguson left is errors in recruitment.

some fans say Moyes should not have messed about with title winning structures but what may have worked in the past may not work for the future !!!

Haha.. its always a Rolex isn’t it. Never a Cartier or a condo in Spain or heaven forbid cash.

I’m sure Alex and every manager accepted bungs in transfers but never match fixing and certainly not champions league. And not sure how bribing the manager can fix the game to any level of certainty.

And why bother with Fergie when the Hungarian referee can be bought for a Swatch !!
