This is a key role for the future going forward, combined with a knowledgeable Head Scout.

Success with the academy was not an overnight change, it took years in the development and it was the 13/14 season when we started to reap the rewards of the previous years investment, which coincided with the start of our decline.

From the 2013/14 to the 2018/19 season we won 16 titles across the youth set up. Since then two.

Okay Covid played a part, but we have also seen a lot of youngsters move on recently because of the lack of first team opportunity, and let’s face it, if not for the transfer ban it is highly unlikely that James, Mount and Abraham would have been given the chances they were.

The years of investment in the Academy were slowly being undone under the previous Management regime, who looked upon the players as purely financial assets as opposed to future on field assets.

The previous Management Team had clearly no preparation in place to meet the demands of change to the New Loan Model, given the number of players who were still on our books, and for the life of me I cannot understand how so many players, last season and this, were getting to or got to the stage that they could move on a free. The sanctions are no excuse whatsoever as they were but a short moment in time ofvwhen negotiations could happen.

I am quietly optimistic, (and as always being a Chelsea Supporter have a pinch of anxious) about the new ownership and management team.
They seem to have a better crasp of the concept that we are first and foremost a Football Club that provides a massive business opportunity. They appear to realise that it is what happens on the pitch that influences the off pitch activity. Just look at the fact that the new owner took time out to reassure CHO.

There will be ups and downs on the way, but long term its looking good.

I was hoping that CHO would have a really good season on loan and come back to claim a place in the Chelsea Squad. Having seen the start to the season Leverkusen have had I would be concerned that Tuchel could end up there and CHO will warm the bench!!

Unfortunate that this has to happen, but given the behaviour of the Liverpool supporters at Wembley it is for the best.

It also gives GP more time working with and getting to know his squad.

Kante is undoubtedly one of the finest signings in the last few years at Chelsea, but his injury record is a major concern. Not just the regulatory, but the nature of the injuries. Mainly all muscle strains of one type or another, rarely if ever a contact injury and with seemingly longer recovery periods each time. If he does not accept the latest offer I would agree we have to let him go.

I would not however let him go on a free. I think the club have to take a stance here. We have had Christensen and Rudiger last season, and both Jorghino and Kante in a position to do the same this season. There needs to be a clear message that we are not to have the proverbial taken and their agents should be told now to start looking for a club in January.

I will be extremely surprised if the matches go ahead at the weekend. If only due to the logistical problems for the London Clubs. We have the Derby on Saturday, Sunday Arsenal host Everton, West Ham Newcastle and Palace United.

Factor in the crowds coming to London to pay their respects from a Policing, Emergency Services and Security perspective it would be a nightmare, not to mention trying to get in to London.

Unfortunately I would say there is a good chance that his first game in charge may be postponed given the news dominating the UK at the minute.

I am sure some of you may already know, but Potter has been in management since 2010.

He took over in Ostersunds a club in 4th tier Swedish football. When he left in 2018 they were in the top tier, had won the Swedish FA Cup and had beaten Arsenal 2-1 in the Europa League at the Emirates. Not many Managers have that on their CV. He has delivered Brightons highest ever league finish. I reckon he has more than cut his teeth with tangible success. Question, is it easier to win a trophy with a squad of internationals in a mega rich club or bring a team up through the divisions!

Any manager is a gamble, but this guy to me looks like a quite driven individual. Sidwell has worked with him as a coach at Brighton and is full of praise for him.

Some reports suggesting that the new owners started to have concerns due to the atmosphere around the Pre Season Camp, and the relationship has soured since then.

I genuinely do not think he will be in the running, but look at Rodgers record. 2019/20 finished 4 points behind us and beat us in the FA Cup final. 2020/21 finished one point behind us. 2021/22 finished 8th and got to a European Semi bearing in mind they had Johnny Evans out for half the season and Fofana out for nearly all season and they were the centre back pairings.

Leicester are not investing at all….

It will be interesting to see who comes in. I hope they bring JT onboard.

Bottom line I think the right man could push City all the way with the squad we have IF he plays to the individuals strengths.

As I have posted previously Tuchel had obviously lost the dressing room.

Potter is a great manager is it a season or two too early, who knows, let’s face it these guys have to get a break at sometime.

Zidane and Poch linked too obviously being free agents, but can we rule out any guys in gainful employment at the minute, only time will tell.

The results have been bad, the tactics all over the place. Boehly has been around sport for a long time, he has been at the games and will have eyed and ears in the club.

Let’s face it, if it had been Romam he would have been away after the Leeds game.

Grateful to him for delivering the Champions League, but time to move on.

Pure media speculation but Potter and Poch are the leading candidates.

The dressing room has gone, and many of these guys are wanting to represent their countries in the World Cup and Tuchel is not helping their cause, which will deepen the division. He has to go, simple as.

2nd game on the trot where he has changed 50% of the outfield players, takes clueless to another level.

We are not a bad team, the selection again is woeful. Mount never performs in that deeper role. Kova is not a defensive mid, so we have no cover for the defenders hence James and Chilly ate reluctant to go forward, especially James because Dave is behind him. As LD points out Fofana does not have the experience to carry out the role he is in. It should be Fofana, Koulibaly and Cucurella as the back 3

Gallagher or RLC would be the better option than Mount!

And yet again Tuchel has to add his negative assessment in public. Chilwell has an impact but still likes rhythm SERIOUSLY….. I am really struggling here to keep the expletives away. Why can he not just say it was a great display as he continues to improve from his injury and leave it at that. The Muppet forgets HE had to change half of his original outfield selection to get what should have been a draw, NOT ONE OF THE CHANGES FORCED BY INJURY. Is it any wonder that so many players were eager to leave. Is that why Gilmour decided to go for the permanent move?

In fairness to Kepa he did not do too badly when covering for Mendy during the African Cup of Nations last season.

Aindro, I share your frustration, the way I see it Koulibaly is more of a longterm replacement for Silva in the centre of a back 3, and Cucurella is either a left back or left centre back. He is not a wing back. Chilly comes on today scores and assists. This bull from Tuchel about fitness, a player cannot get fit warming the bench.

Tuchel has to decide what are best formation is, and then who can fill each position. Stop worrying about the opposition, let them worry about us.

If this was last season with only 3 subs, how would today’s game have gone!
