Diangana has been our weak point since he returned from AFCON. He loses the ball too easily and gives us problems. Like Sarky I question the subs that CC does as they rarely seem to improve things. At least now we have an owner who seems to be interested in what we do rather than how much money he can make. If rumours are true he’s keen to bring in young players as we currently have the oldest side in the EFL. It was nice of both lots of supporters to cheer Tony Mowbray’s name. Hope he gets well soon even if he is a bluenose now!

Spot on with Diangana. He was hopeless all game.CC should have taken him off put Wallace right, Fellows left and Johnston in the hole with Weimann up front. A draw was probably a fair result although it could have gone either way at the end.

You’re right about the youngsters Finger. Not one who has left us for the ‘big time’ has played above Championship level and a few haven’t even made it that far. I don’t know of any that went to Villa playing in their first team and now they’ve bought one of our rejects from ‘Boro!

There were a few times when Fellows, Johnston and BTA started runs but nobody picked them out. I wouldn’t have wanted to be in the stands as it was such a frustrating match. A cracking start and then game management for the next 80 minutes until the second goal then they started to play a bit. They won’t be able to do that against Soton.

From what I’ve read I don’t think we’ll be seeing him again this season. It’s an achilles injury but to the other foot not the one he had it before. Didn’t help our game nor did losing Bartley.

He’s got some interesting players in but what we don’t have is a creative midfielder/playmaker like Pereira was. It’s no good having strikers if the supply is sub standard. We now have four wingers but nobody in central midfield with creativity. We could have done with Kieffer Moore to get on the end of the crosses as Matt Smith used to do with Wallace at Milwall.

It seems that Wolves supporters had got tickets amongst the home fans and were stupid enough to celebrate the second goal. It all kicked off and both sides ‘supporters’ joined in. Hopefully they will identify the idiots and ban them indefinitely.

And we won’t get better players until we have an owner who is both interested in football but more importantly WBA not someone trying to line their pockets. Some fans used to have a go at JP when he was owner because he didn’t splash the cash but we could do with someone similar to sort things out now. I’ve seen those alleged buyers and I’m not impressed to say the least.

Just watched brief highlights of the game. It seemed to me that Norwich took their chances and we didn’t. Their first goal was onside despite Kipre’s call. He should have done something rather than wait for a flag. Second half seemed to be better probably because Reach was off.

I’ve only seen the highlights but it looked to be a confident performance and we should have scored more. Agree about Furlong and BTA along with Fellows who seems to be growing in confidence. Let’s hope he signs a new contract as we can’t afford to keep losing our youngsters after we’ve spent years training them.

We are down to the bare bones. We’ve lost Sarmiento and will be losing Ajayi and Diangana and possibly Bartley but not BTA to AFCON shortly. If we don’t bring in an attacker or two and a creative midfielder then we’ll struggle. Hopefully the potential buyers from the US will sort things out quickly and will both be interested in football and WBA in particular and have money for players. According to a recent commentator we have the oldest squad in the Championship and possibly the whole of the EFL so we need freshening up a bit. Saturday should give CC a chance to look at some of the u23s in the cup. The result is irrelevant as the league position is the important bit. Happy New Year everyone.

Great result especially restricting Leeds to one shot on target! Everyone pulled their weight especially the three you mentioned Finger. I though both Furlong and Townsend did well in different ways. Furlong pretty much kept Sommerville quiet and seems to play better when Wallace is out on the right. Townsend was going forward whenever possible and was our furthest forward on a number of occasions. When James came on he only managed to get past Townsend once. Two games with Wallace wide right and Diangana on the left and six points in the bag. Maybe CC will stick with that.

I’ve managed to watch the highlights if you can call them that. We seemed to start well but faded after about 30 minutes. Once again we were treated to Diangana and Sarmiento on their ‘wrong’ wings and both lost the ball in promising situations letting Boro break away! If it wasn’t for our defence and keeper plus Okay we would have lost by 3+. If CC persists with the current set-up we are going to slowly drop down the table. Next match how about Wallace on the right wing, Fellows on the left and Swift in the middle. We just might get something against Norwich and Swansea although we will need to pack the midfield away to Leeds.

One thing that nobody has mentioned that might have had some impact (certainly the Sunderland game) was that the last three teams had sacked their managers prior to playing us and all had interim coaches in charge.

Sorry Finger but this was a much better performance than the last couple. A flukey cross that went in for Stoke’s only shot on target. Seven from us stopped either by Bonham’s heroics or a defenders head. On another day we’d have won comfortably. Wallace was back to his best but needs to play as a winger not in the middle. Preferably on the right but he did a decent job on the left. Diangana is too lightweight and Sarmiento out dribbles himself. Any decent defender seeing videos of him will know he nearly always tries to get it on his right foot and rarely goes left.Another fault of the team is our two CBs are too slow to get the ball up the pitch and messing around causes problems. We’ve got three tough matches coming up so CC needs to sort things out with his selections!

I agree with most of what you say Finger. My difference relates to Fellows who worked his socks off and doesn’t get knocked off the ball as easily as Diangana and is less selfish and more direct than Sarmiento. Their second goal wasn’t a schoolboy error by Townsend but a slip on a very wet pitch. It’s hammered down in the north over the last 24 hours. I’ve already said that having Diangana and Sarmiento on at the same time is asking for trouble especially away to a decent team as they lose the ball too easily and leave the full backs exposed. The problem is that we don’t have replacements in midfield other than Fellows. With Phillips out for months, Wallace doubtful and Maja sustaining what looked like a serious injury CC either needs to blood some of the younger players or get some in during the January window.

I think that playing both Sarmiento and Diangana was a mistake. Both like attacking but are a bit lightweight when it comes to defending. A draw would have been the right result as neither team managed to trouble the opposition keeper that much. Leicester didn’t have a shot on target in the first half and their goals were their only ones on target that I remember. We had three but only one went in. Going gung ho for a winner was asking for trouble as Leicester were leaving at least two speedy players ready for a breakaway and it happened. Phillips going off didn’t help either.

To be fair to Diangana he was marked by at least two players every time he got the ball. Probably a deliberate tactic by Cardiff. He and Sarmiento are very alike with their pace and fancy footwork but are not that good at defending so both on at the same time is a luxury.Fellows is starting to look like a younger Wallace so we need to hold on to him and give him a new contract. Hopefully we’ll have new owners soon but not from Nigeria.

It seemed to me that Kipre had upset the ref in some way. Apart from the ridiculous penalty decision he gave a corner when everyone in the ground saw it was a goal kick. They didn’t score from that fortunately. As you say the free kick was soft as Kipre was pulling away but just touched Hogan (I think) who went down as if poleaxed. I agree that we lacked creativity but CC keeps playing people out of position. I’ve also heard that BTA prefers to play alongside another striker rather than on his own. Pity we don’t have a fit one. One thing that pleased me was Tom Fellows. He seemed to be a bit more direct than some of the others. Might be worth a start with Swift out. It doesn’t surprise me that Eustace got the boot as without the ref and some poor defending they would have got nothing.
