Lambert looks a reasonable bet but he needs to organise them defensively and get the balance right between attack and defence. Of the new players I think most are pretty good either as first 11 or decent squad players. The only one who does seem a definite dud is Gladon. I am sure that some of the loanees will drift back to their clubs

I think we are going to have a few more Barnsley-Newcastle weeks before things settle down selection wise. It appears that Zenga favours 4-3-3 I have some reservations about this. There are a lot of well organised teams like Burton and Barnsley who simply outnumber us in midfield with 4-4-2. You can counter by playing your hard workers eg Evans, Price, Prince and Edwards who protect the defence but they don’t create enough. You could play the creative players there but that results in the last 15 mins against Barnsley. I couldn’t see how Zenga could get the balance right and cope with hardworking 4-4-2 until yesterday. The answer could be Saiss if we have him in midfield then maybe it can work as he appears to fulfil both roles. He could be a key player for us this season.

I think the biggest challenge for Zenga is going to be integrating in effect two teams in the dressing room and keeping everyone motivated with game time. He has signalled that he will rotate so the Tuesday team will be much changed from the Saturday team but generally teams that go up usually use a limited number of players to ensure consistency. He has to square that particular circle.

Obviously not but we are at least moving in that direction. Putting the club up for sale took all momentum out of the club and we just stagnated whilst we waited for a new buyer. Undefeated right now but that could easily be followed by 5 straight defeats as a lot have said this will be a rollercoaster ride.

Dick makes a really good point about Butti, I totally forgot about him and his track record looks good. PS 4 hour round trip that’s dedication but the train is much less stressful I find .

Vinnw – fair last post but whoever bought us were going to be starting from scratch. I think Fosun assumed that they were going to get their running a football club expertise from Moxey but he is going and very much hands off right now. Until we get his replacement we will lack that steady hand that the Moxey’s and Wyness’s provide. These do not however provide knowledge of football in that sense that’s where Mendes comes in and why are we bothered ? because he is an agent !

Vinniw you could be right about conflict of interest , truth is we just don’t know which fuels the uncertainty about Mendes

Vinnw Moxey always was the sanest man, we will sorely miss him. My point about Morgan was if you wanted him replaced who on earth did you expect to replace him ? The buyers were always likely to be foreign and probably Chinese as they are buying up clubs across the world. This is the world we are in now , the new owners will give us a higher base to kick on from possibly to the prem. It may go wrong as you suggest but it’s the risk we have to take surely ?

Oh Vinniw you old misery ! Want Morgan back do you ? Do I trust Mendes – certainly not but given the size of the business Shi is no idiot. This is a long term investment for them and if Mendes doesn’t deliver he will out on his ear as quickly as Zenga. I don’t think they are bottom rung players which doesn’t mean to say I think they will all be huge a success either. Also interestingly I don’t see us spending a lot of money at the moment which in the circumstances might reflect caution about Zenga. Lets give them a chance shall we ?

I think he will last a lot longer than October arddunby because it will take at least until then to bed all these players in and getting everyone playing his way. My guess the run up to the transfer window in January will be critical for him. As for the signings Debenham I disagree I think we have signed some really good players but (and there is always a but isn’t there!) just because they are good doesn’t mean that this will translate into success in the championship. Some will be great right off , some will take half a season to settle, some never wil. I think they look good on paper and have a good pedigree who knows which one will be a Sako and which one will be a Doumbia ! These really are exciting times, today we signed a CF tomorrow who knows !

They were never going to pick a Bruce, they think they can get up with a European manager. It will take a couple of failures before they change their mind. I am sceptical about Zenga but lets not write him off before he starts. We are unlikely to start well as they are loads of players to come in and make into a team – it will take a few months.

Dick pretty much agree but sad the way it happened, KJ deserved better treatment. If this new era brings huge success we will look back and be grateful to KJ and Morgan for that matter for taking us a step or two along the way.

The owners have a real decision to make in the next 48 hours. They had a very good manager lined up but his country called – just bad luck. They could search for a new manager there are good ones around both UK and European but can we wait that long with the squad so thin. The alternative is to back KJ , give him some money and see how it goes. I really don’t know what I would do.

Dick I am a bit torn as well. I just don’t believe that Bruce would go or be welcomed back to Sunderland. Fans are unforgiving , did you hear the anti Allardyce rant by the Newcastle fan on five live this week? Still it quite cheered me up that Hull are going in to the prem with no manager, no new signings and 15 fit players, it makes us seem quite organised ! I do agree with you they key will be who is making the decision on the new manager.

I think we may have been caught short on that guy going to Spain. If we are looking fresh , how about the recently resigned Steve Bruce ? or will some think ‘he isn’t good enough for us’ like they did a few years back ?

OK the deal is done which is great but being a worrywart I am now concerned that the manager lined up allegedly is not coming. Mind you that is not surprising given he has just been announced as Spain’s manager. Apparently the link with this super agent is still very much there , apparently he will get us the players. That bothers me a bit , I suspect he will become the new scapegoat for the fans now Jez is going (his own choice apparently). So this could be the new dawn but given we will have a new CEO, a new manager (allegedly and probably foreign) and a new owner I suspect there will be lot of mistakes made before we get there. I will make a plea now for patience because whoever the new boss he will have no time get the team ready for his way of playing even if and when he gets new players.

I think KJ is toast if the deal goes ahead. Its harsh but it was always going to be with a new owner wanting his own guy. Exciting times
