Ok, I think I’ve seen it all now. I’m all for protecting the players and sports science etc, but a drinks break in May? Are you kidding me! What in February, hot cocoa on the sidelines coz it’s too cold for them?
    Guess I’m too old school.
Massive game on Tuesday, let’s hope we return to winning ways and give the old stadium a proper send off. If the football gods are watching a stuffing of the Mancs is surely the only result to end an era in style. Time to move Antonio to right wing, he’s wasted at right back.

Quite right Hursty. Tuesday night will be so special and I hope we can conjure up a fitting and happy ending. To do that, we need to beat Man Utd. We bloody well owe them that. Besides, after that shocking debacle yesterday we need to bounce back and show everybody what we can do. Let’s hope we can. Antonio is my Hammer of the year. He is an immense player for us and has worked his arse off. I really hope Slav plays him to his natural strengths on Tuesday evening. If he does and the rest of the boys are up for it, we have more than a decent chance.
Here’s hoping we can leave the Boleyn singing bubbles. COYI.

What I fail to understand is what has happened to Byram. He was brilliant when he came on for Jenkinson in his first match. Cup-tied so missed those and had a mystery injury but is now su[pposedly fit. If so why not at least on teh bench. Antonio is a brilliant forward but NOT a defender. He should be played up front and either Byram or Tomkins at right back. For a few minuts on Saturday he was up front and terrorised the Swansea defence while Kouyate took right back. Then Kouyate was taken off and poor old Antonio pushed back a gain – his body language spoke volumes. What on earth was Bilic playing at. Four forwards but no right back. We had better be better tomorrow night or I will not want to hang about for the ‘show’ at the end, last match or not. It was pififul against Swansea !

So if there are no injury worries apart from long term injuries why isn’t Byram playing? Something dodgy there

I’m trying to not make this sound critical especially given how great our owners have been this season…. But do we really need Sullivan telling the press how much we are going to spend and that we’ve bid for a striker in France and about to bid for another in the UK? Isn’t that just playing into the hands of our competition by revealing our intentions to all and sundry, and doesn’t it have a serious consequence of driving the price up from the seller and inviting a bidding war from those that would choose to scupper the deals?
Perhaps I’m missing something. When I’m buying capital equipment in my business the last thing I want to do is broadcast it. I’m happy to have all the press releases and publicity after the business is done but before that I’m keeping bloody quiet!

Ha ha, fair enough TRNC_Hammer…just glad we’ll never have to play you at Upton Park in May again. Cracking atmosphere last night, gave me the heebie jeebies early on and was a proper send off to your ground. The best team didn’t win by nearly as many as they should have done.

I didn’t cry when I got married, I didn’t even cry when my kids were born, but when the great man himself turned the lights off last night….I cried. I cried when the 3rd goal went in, I cried when Bilic cried, I cried when Noble cried and I cried when Martin Peters was helped into the stage by his daughter? How could you not? All those years and all those memories, wrapped up in 90 minutes of breathless football and a wonderful poignant ceremony at the end to say goodbye. Choking up writing this.

This team never fails to amaze me this season, yet again their character showed through and they powered to the win. The events before and sadly during the game have annoyed me as there was no need for it and they will get punished for it and rightly so. As for the send off well I am at one with Hurstie I didn’t cry at my wedding nor when my girls were born, but when My way started it was hard not to but I managed but then seeing that magical No6 shirt turn off the lights oh yes, tears flowed. I am proud to say I have stood and sat at Upton park and watched some great and very sad moments, and unlike those idiots who tried to ruin it, I am a Hammer and always will be so.

What a night. Wonderful game and a great performance from the lads they just never give up. Very emotional night with lots of memories of past visits with people no longer with us.
Bobby switching of the lights at the end was a very fitting end to football at Upton Park

How did we manage to lose that? Where was Payet? Unhappy Hammer! Still a great season though.

I do hope G&S invest in a top striker. If we had one out there this afternoon we would have walked that game and now be looking forward to European football. All we have left to hope for now is that Man Utd can win the FA Cup, which is by no means a foregone conclusion. What a disappointing anti-climax to such a promising season.

What a disappointing end to the season. Should have been 4 up at HT. I guess it shows how far we’ve come that 7th is a let down for us. Still sucks though, with a little bit more luck we could easily have been 4th. We definitely need a striker, Emeneke, Valencia and Sakho just don’t look like they can find the net.

Biased we may be….but Henderson and Milner over Noble? Its a joke, Henderson has barely played because of injury and Milner is way past it. Yet Noble is in the form of his life, scoring goals and is overlooked. The whole England set up just seems so old, boring and out of touch. We all have our opinions of course, but does Wilshire deserve to go, he hasn’t played for almost two seasons and is likely to break down the first time he gets tackled. Rooney, out of form and maybe just over the hill, Ashford, the kid has been playing for about 10 minutes! Not one West Ham player in a squad of 26 with limited picking potential because of all the non English players in the premier league, its a disgrace in my opinion.

I agree with you Hurstie the England squad appears very same old same old. Noble and to be fair Cresswell, Antonio and for that matter Carroll have had great seasons, what I like about Carroll, is when he comes on defences get jittery as they know he is a handful, something England don’t have. However I am always wary of England call ups, I remember our then most expensive player ever Dean Ashton never kicking a ball again after being called up for brolley mans squad so all in all I am happy we haven’t got anyone involved as I would like a rested squad for next season. Have a great and silly rumour bound summer my fellow hammers and if you support England, Wales or Ireland happy nail biting.

It’s the silly season and already we are being linked with unknown journeymen from across the globe. Personally I think we should be concentrating on securing Oxford to a 5 year contract and nipping in the bud any talk of flogging Tompkins and Obiang. In my opinion all three are important squad players. Selling them makes no sense to me. If their combined fees were 25m we could end up blowing that and more on their replacements. Any new signing is a gamble. You know what you have got with these three. All will improve too. Forget twisting it’s time to stick. We don’t need to spend a fortune on a right back either. There are players out there and in the Championship good enough for sensible money. Byram lost form after his injury which is why Antonio had to be sacrificed. Bilko had no option. I saw Byram playing for the Development Squad and it was plain to see. But I am sure he will bounce back. It happens. But he is a young player and will improve. Where we do need to spend big is on a goal scorer. Sakho and Valencia look shot to me. Eminneke has left for his next adventure with Moses who still is not sure how old he is. Trust me he is not 24! I would be inclined to test the water with Steptoe Vardy. He has four years left in him and can play in any formation. Ask Uncle Woy? Guaranteed to score goals in the Premiership and that surely is why you part with big bucks. Okay no sell on but who cares. If we are going to progress we need a 20 goal striker. End of sermon. Over and Out.

Good post Harry. If this was our old Teamtalk page you would have got lots of responses by now. Katmad, One Mac, Ironic, Disco, Hattrick, etc would all be actively participating in their own entertaining way. Unfortunately the buggers are still nowhere to be seen, but I’m sure they are still out there and occasionally looking in.

I read recently that they are planning to revamp this site and will attempt to include as much of the old format as possible. Let’s hope that Teamtalk get it right this time and most of our old posters who made this site worth visiting return. If not, this page is dead.

Eric, this site died when the powers that be decided to “upgrade it” and left us without a your say page for a month. People have tried to breath some life back into it, but with all the will in the world the regulars are not going to come back. It’s a shame, we have just had one of our best seasons in a long time, a good cup run, the final game at the Boleyn Ground, moving to the OS next season and people are nowhere to be seen. This is just a shitty site now and might as well be shut down for all I care.

Eric, I hope you are right and Teamtalk have seen the light. There comes the time when you have to hold your hand up and admit you screwed up. It would be so easy to give us back what they took away from us. I think we all miss the banter with the old posters. So let’s hope it happens before the start of the new season. We were so close to Champions League qualification and had we got over the line Bilko’s summer shopping spree would have been much easier. The Man U FA Cup replay, Swansea at home and Stoke away took the gloss off our season. It cost us a at least one day out at Wembley and the Champions League. Factor in half of the points stolen from us by dodgy decisions and the Old Trafford FA Cup robbery and it was a double whammy. Never mind the Champions League qualification we could have won the Premiership. Santa’s Injury List cost us some important points too. It’s history now but what I am really trying to illustrate is that we are not a million away from being a top four team. What we need to do now is not just consolidate but to improve. To do that is not just about signing better players but by developing further our strengths and working on our weaknesses. We play brilliantly against the top sides but looked like the Daggers against the lower sides. The Villa, Newcastle and Watford games were shockers. We failed to turn up. The good thing is we have an honest Manager who tells it as it is. Hopefully we will keep Tonks, Oxford and Obiang. I am excited by several of our Young Guns who will be better still next season. We need a Goal Machine, every team does but not a journeyman topping up his pension. I am sure we will make some interesting signings after the Euro’s but getting better players won’t be easy. I have been really disappointed by Sakho and Valencia however I don’t think they are entirely to blame. Neither are wide players but when played to their strengths and in the right mindset both are effective. Personally I don’t think either will be here next season if we find better options. I am not very excited by the Euro’s or Uncle Woy’s squad. Sturridge leaves me cold. He has such a bad attitude. Several of our boy’s should have been give more consideration especially Antonio. I think England are too predictable. Antonio is the opposite. I don’t even think he knows what he is going to do at times. But anyone with his strength, ability to beat a player, score goals, head the ball and turn a throw into a corner should surely have been on the Ferry. Keep posting if you are reading this even if it’s to disagree with me!

I pretty much agree there HH; I too can’t see Sakho still being around next season, which is a shame as he was on fire when he first arrived, I guess certain players fit certain systems and for some reason Bilko’s doesn’t suit Sakho or vice versa. Such a shame this site went down the pan with the up or rather down grade, we had more to be positive about, to celebrate, to wave in the Spuds faces, to be aggrieved about and to say farewell to this season than the past 10 years’ worth put together! Can’t wait for the first league game at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park or Olympic Park (Or New Boleyn … or New Upton Park) COYIX
