Gomez must play as RB. TAA must play in the midfield.
    JK must try it…

“443 is Klopp’s preferred formation throughout his career”

    He played 4231 at Dortmund.

Didnt you see Gomez’s last effort pinzes?
When it comes to being world class or just a good player, if there is no effort from the player he’s either not playing for the manager or the club, so which is it?
If you’re saying he needs to play further forward but dont rate him as a midfielder…what would his role be then? A roaming RB? A false #2?
I do find this TAA debate very strange as no one can actually find a role for him unless we play x,y,z to cover him. Simple fact of it all is he needs a large kick in the ass to do his duty and if he messes up or out of position then he needs to be sprinting back…its basic football for a defender.

And that’s the thing Moonster, it’s his cavalier-ness that infuriates. Last night for example, if he’d actually sprinted from the off to cover Kudus he may have had the chance to get goal-side/get in a challenge but he only reacted when they executed the screen to allow Kudus a shot on goal. ALL defenders get beat but most make a real conscious effort to make amends either by sprinting back or covering ‘a’ player supporting the first attacker.

I compare to Steve Nicol. Loved watching Stevie. Great going forward but also a great defender. I know systems and the game have evolved but I also see other like minded attacking fulls in the modern game executing a desire to contribute to stopping the attack once beaten.

At least press and pressure the first attacker, but Trent seems to stand off almost inviting the thru ball, then just canters back. Real f***in’ annoying and if one of MY players repeatedly did that, he’d be hooked at the next dead ball situation.

All bastard teams, regardless of quality, have an outlet against us, our RIGHT side, and it’s getting friggin’ old.

But at Liverpool he’s played mainly 433, and as I clearly said in my post, he also plays 4231 at times, even yesterday.

Song, for around 75% of Klopp’s managerial career he’s favoured either a 442 (Mainz) or 4231 (Dortmund).

Yes, he favours a 433 at Liverpool but you said ‘throughout his career.’ Apologies for being pedantic.

I’ve yet to see a 4-2-3-1 this season.

Actually love to see a 443 formation, should always give us a player as an outlet. Wonder if the ref would notice?

Last night we had Bobby Diaz Nunez and Salah on the pitch at once didn’t we? Was that not a 4231 or did Bobby revert back to being the orthodox midfielder we all know him as? 😉

I watched him as CB not a RB!!
He can not at the centaal of the defence.
Bedisdes TAA loses his opponents very frequently as it happened yesterday and at the final of CL…

I wouldn’t change the formation. As I said though, I’d go back to our old way of utilizing the wide areas.

Ya, even tho I think Elliott is fantastic, Klopp uses him too high to protect Trent but you know what I’d do there? I’d drop Trent when Ramsay is back. Throw him right in and he might not get exposed as often…but I think I might start Hendo a few times at least, just to give him a chance at settling.

Elliott is the near future replacement for Hendo though, I think. Whatever about his utilisation, he’s been one of our best players so far, IMO.

Drop Trent tho. Incredible player when he wants to be but he’s got no hunger right now.
    Everyone is replaceable.

Also, when Nunez stops worrying so much about being called a flop ‘you can see the angst in his reactions, he’s too desperate’, he’ll tear defences apart.
Diaz is fantastic. Drop him at your peril.

I’ve got a role for him ; the bench.

The bench would be the z solution…
x is rght back, y is midfield
