Here we are on the eve of a new season and surrounded by more negativity than ever before which got me to thinking about my own position. Eventually I have decided to partake in an amnesty and suspend my misgivings until October. I have decided to gird my loins to previous seasons fervor and support the baggies as best I can. I will be going to Palace with a new spring in my step and song in my voice to cheer on the lads and try to get some positivity going. We’re a great club with a fantastic tradition and excellent support. We have new owners who are willing to invest. The future is bright, the future is blue and white.

    Whose gonna join me?

In the long term you may be right – but not whilst the Clown is still here. I’d rather get a cold sore than watch a team of his. Thats how strongly I feel about the situation. I will always love the club, but couldn’t care much whilst he is still in charge.

Im sorry but the time has come for TP to earn our support, rather than take it for granted. I have never been this passionate about getting rid of a manager as I am with this dinosaur. And I can remember some pretty awful managers. He has done NOTHING to make me want to get behind him – He’s full of lame excuses about why he can’t play attractive, attacking football. We all know the reason. Because none of his teams have ever played that way.

    Sorry – Rant over.

Sludgy…the name says it all. Cast your mind back a couple of seasons, to when TP was at Palace and that famous game against Liverpool that effectively terminated their aspirations to be champions. Palace were sensational, and I have seen some really good performances by TP teams since he came to Albion: completely outplaying a really good Tottenham side last year, for example. So I just don’t buy all the negativism. Would you rather have RdM?

The Duke is right. support our team and have faith that we have sound management and a committed team with chemistry. These are building blocks and I sincerely hope that flair will come with results. Just pray that the core stays in tact (McCauley, Evans, Dawson, Yacob, Fletcher, Morrison etc.) and we’ll be fine.

Derwent, it’s duelling banjos time again. The core of the team may not stay as Arsenal are interested in Evans who apparently is keen to go. No doubt he’d rather play centre half in a Champions League team than LB in a relegation battle. We’ve had a bid accepted for Chester so if he agrees terms he’ll be off. He’d rather play regular football presumably in central defence for a Champs team than occasional appearances in assorted positions for us! McA cannot go on forever and I believe we have the oldest team in the Prem. You wonder why there is so much negativity it’s because there is so little to be positive about! In 60+ years of watching the Albion I can’t remember feeling so dispirited at the start of a season.

Derwent – Exactly what do you mean by ‘the name says it all’?? You are lucky if you can name 5 games where we actually played ‘football’ under this clown. Everything else has been total and utter dross. When one of his remits for a player is his height, it tells you everything you need to know. He is a hoof merchant and always will be. The stats dont lie. We played more long balls than any other team last season. Only Villa scored less goals. Something like 25% of our goals came from set pieces. Shall I go on??? When other teams supporters say they would hate to watch this crap every week, are they wrong too?? There is NOTHING to look forward to this season as it stands. You seem happy to accept mediocrity, but I wont. We can do so much better than this with a ‘positive’ minded coach. SACK THE CLOWN AND SACK HIM NOW !!! With any luck he will walk out tomorrow, just as he did at Palace.

Gents, the title of this post is amnesty. A new season is a blank canvas, let’s see what’s painted on it by October, a Renoir or a Renault. Give the time then start the cheering or vitriol but at least give the season a chance. COYB.

There is always a faint hope at the start of a season that things will be better and I agree that sometimes at Palace and a few games at Albion TP teams have been let of the leash and beat some of the best. So why not more often? If a team can have the better of a game against Spurs (we never outplayed them!) surely they should be able to muster one shot against Norwich and Sunderland and not have the last but one lowest total of goals scored in five divisions. I don’t think anyone takes a conscious decision to be negative. We do it in being aware of all the facts. TP is too old to change his spots, particularly when he obviously feels that he is in the right and bad performances and results are down to anyone except him.
