    Back on since 60mins
Subs made but not really offering anything up top, making Reid look like the best CB in the PL
The players who have come in not really impressed

What is clear tonight is that several players do not fit in this 3-4-3 formation. Oscar, Terry, Willian, Batshuayi are a few to name who doesn’t fit in to our current formation.

I thought Conte has gone a bit far when he made 7 changes to the team that beat United on Sunday. we shouldn’t have madd that whole sale changes.

I hope we should go with the same team that beat United against Southampton. we really missed our wingback, Moses and Alonso. i was really disappointed with Oscar tonight. he has done no favours for himself. and the same may go to Willian who despite his work and runs has offeres little or no goal threat. i can see Pedro overtaking him in the pecking order if Willian doesn’t wake up and change his game.

And finally, very disappointed with our performance and the loss after fighting so hard to rescue the tie against Leicester.

    Agree Chelsea.man
It just had that feel about it, didn’t want to comment on Oscar or Willian but boy they were poor, Willian not been the same player since he got his new contact.

Even conte had his tracksuit on, so not sure there will be much of a postmortem after this, but the team will pick itself Sunday.

Disappointing especially as this was a trophy we might have won but perhaps more importantly advancing in the competition gave us the chance to give some of our young hopefuls real and continued game time.

7 changes for this game had an unsettling effect and seemingly some of those that came in didn’t step up to the plate having said that I still think Conte was right to make those changes and rest some key players with Sunday in mind because for the club it is more important to reclaim a CL spot sadly even more important than winning a domestic Cup.

Ironically had we won we would have been drawn away to United which would have been a really difficult game with Mourinho thirsting for revenge much better to leave him and United hurting from that 4 nil defeat for a while longer.

Hopefully we go straight out on Sunday and put this one behind us with a performance and a result at Southampton.

We made alot of changes but the starting line up didnt make any sense. Terry as the left sided centreback? After conte came out yday and said they need to be fast players to play there!? Thats possibily terrys last start for us. When zouma comes back he wont have a look in. Oscar and willian were god awful. No suprise really. Michy is hit and miss he looks okay when he comes off the bench then looks well out of his depth others. The team picks itself for sunday. Pedro offers more than willian. And cahill suits the system more than terry

Conte had to give some of these potential starters a game otherwise he then gets accused of not giving them opportunities to prove themselves whether its old or young players and the EFL cup is the only vehicle he can do that and with a bit of luck could have gotten something out the game. I expect an unchanged team that played against United for Sundays game. With no EFL games and no Euro they can now concentrate on the league and the FA cup.

Southampton away is also a very tricky fixture, they just drew away to City

If we can nullify tadic and redman then we wont have to worry about them scoring. Both them players have scored or assisted nearly all goals this season. i agree it will be difficult though. But the players will be confident after united. I would be dissapointed not to win

I think that Soton are more than Tadic and Redmond. They have Long or Austin who are very dangerous. But their strength is more on their defense with van Dijk and Fonte, difficult to penetrate. Anyway I was so afraid that we could not find a way last week against Man Utd who were supposed to have a very good defense. Let’s see for this weekend. I’ll try not to be too pessimist

and very disappointed with the loss against WHU. Could have been opportunities for young players to show what they can do. It shows that we badly need Hazard and also Costa.
And I hope that Michy can take some lesson from yesterday’s match. He is young, hopefully he won’t behave like Lukaku or de Bruyne who demanded transfer

According to the reports we had a number of chances and hit the woodwork so if one had been converted – who knows
I think a degree of latitude should be given to both Willian and Oscar in view of the extra travelling and obvious circumstances but not turning up obviously did not help. My boy was at the game and said JT is too slow for a back 3 so should never start again

for me there were too many changes but you cannot say this was a weak team. simply too many players not used to the formation or capable of taking their chances so expect to revert to “norm” on Sunday. KTBFFH

agree with CFC1905. I did not see the match, but there’s no way that the team fielded yesterday was weak. I have to agree with others that some players cannot play in certain position in the new 3-4-3. You put Azpi on the RB/RM or LB/LM with 3-4-3: we’ll lose some creativity compared to Moses / Alonso, who can defend less than Azpi, but can attack more.

The right place for Azpi in 3-4-3 is as CB. He is reliable but not creative.

Think it’s pretty clear that Conte’s brief is top four and no distractions.
You could tell, the team selected, Conte’s manner on the touch line even his dress code was a training day one for him.
Big game is Sunday, team picks itself and he conte will be back to patrolling and jumping in the technical area kicking every ball.

BP – actually disagree. I would have thought with no European distractions that one of the domestic cups would be an excellent and achievable target

Obviously a top 4 spot is a no brainer but we should never put all our eggs in one basket. KTBFFH

Actually disappointed with the game and how we played. but again if our main aim is to be in the top 4, then i see no reason for being in that cup. but what has bothered me most, that one of us has had a slight dig at us. take a look at this, http://www.goal.com/en/news/1862/premier-league/2016/10/27/28908072/ive-never-had-phenomenal-fans-like-man-utd-mourinho-in-sly.

Did you watch the game, based on what I seen and post match comments this was never more than a distraction, but eh that’s not to say the FA cup won’t be taken seriously, come new year who knows what position we will be in, but I think it’s a case of yes all eggs will be thrown into one basket to gain top four, no doubt that will be what he is measured on come the end of the season.

    Wisefan
Don’t get too concerned on you know who, he has so much sucking up to do, he will try anything no matter how sad and futile, and perhaps manure fans will be gullible enough to suck it up.
