I cant help thinking my generation had the best of it Taxi. Sometimes if Wolves were away I’d sneak into the West Brom ground or whatever(you could do that then) so i’d see some players many times a season.Like Callaghan and Thompson for Liverpool who I really loved. In those days sometime you still loved the players even if you got beat by them.
Even the Mancs, I saw Dennis Law many times and always loved him and Charlton of course. Bestie etc…..
But you could do that then………..before the police state

You probably did Knotter, I’m 52 and I would have liked to have seen the likes of Best in His pomp,I’m as appreciative of Players of Yesteryear as I am Players of Today as I think there was a lot more Honesty in the Game then.

Difficult to fathom out given the obvious frailties of Moreno why signing a left back who could defend wasn’t Klopp’s No 1 priority in Summer window seemingly he’s flirted with signing a left back in chasing Chilwell and allegedly showing an interest in signing Hector but nothing has materialised.

I liked the way Klopp defended Moreno this week from the media backlash against him but then he went and dropped him and played Milner who is right footed and a winger in his place which won’t have done Moreno’s confidence any good.

What makes it even stranger is that Liverpool fans almost to a man have been calling on Klopp to sort the left back situation out for as long as he’s been there, it’s still solvable though if Liverpool move quickly in the time that is left in this window.

Nine, allegedly, they didn’t feel Hector was worth £20m (yet he’s good enough to be 1st choice LB in the German national side-make of that what you will),as for Chilwell,we were in negotiations, but Chilwell’s dad,who is the lad’s agent, was apparently difficult to deal with, was allegedly making unreasonable demands, and Klopp pulled the plug on the deal (what those demands are is anyone’s guess). But it seems to be the case that Klopp and the club have said “we won’t pay for Hector, the Chilwell deal isn’t going to happen,so we’ll just stick with what we have”. No,i’m sorry,it’s not acceptable. Like Arsenal need a CB and a striker,we need a LB,and a DM. The money is there,so buy somebody. It’s crazy. We have a net spend this window of £20m. We have brought in close to £100m in player sales. We have £27m from Crystal Palace for Benteke sitting there at the moment. Could we not find a LB with that money?

The latest rumour is,we are interested in Coentrao, the Portuguese LB at Real Madrid,in a loan deal. Just buy him. Oh,i forgot to mention,Coentrao is injured, and probably wouldn’t pass the medical. It’s a joke. If we don’t sign a LB and a DM before the 31st,we are screwed. They were talking at the weekend about Arsenal on the TV,saying that Wenger dithers, doesn’t like the transfer window etc,but if you want to compete, you have to pay the fees. They were spot on. Chelsea paid a lot of money for the striker from Marseille. He scored at the weekend. Man United have spent massive money, and have 2 wins from 2. Liverpool have no LB,and can’t defend, and Arsenal haven’t spent enough, and are yet to win. It’s not coincidence. Everyone knows that to compete, you have to spend. Klopp, stop burying your head in the sand. Moreno is not a LB,and neither is Milner. Spend the money that you’ve brought in from the likes of Ibe,Allen,Skrtel,Benteke, and address the issues in the side and squad. To not do so is actually a neglecting of his duties. Part of his job as manager is to make sure the squad is in a healthy state, and to improve it if there are issues. Koeman said it the other day. We are in dire need of a LB,the money is there, get one signed

st, still 10 days to go mate so it could happen similar situation at Chelsea going on to with lots of potential buys still being mentioned.

Not sure about Coentrao putting aside his injuries he seems to be to me a more sophisticated version of Moreno great going forward but questionable defensively.

I do enjoy the passion that you show for your club though mate which comes across in your posts. Cheers 999

The total over reaction to one result does make me laugh. Saturday was down to two individual errors from a CB that was only supposed to be cover, but won a starting place due to impressive pre season performances, and the front boys not being able to hit a cows arse with a banjo. Every team has games like this occasionally, it happens, lowest possession for a winning team since early 2000’s, it was just one of those days.

    Cheers Nine.

Pax,it’s not an over reaction mate. We’ve conceded 5 goals in 2 games. We need a DM,and we’re currently playing without a LB. Lovren is being found out,and Klavan is new to the club. Added to that,we have no back up for Clyne. Yes,we made errors, but we made errors last week too. We made errors in pre season. There are problems with our side that everyone can see need fixing, and yet, they haven’t been. The players should have been brought in before the first game,to give them time to bed in before the season started. Yet,2 games in,we are still short of a LB,and a specialist DM to offer our shaky defence some protection

Klopp is actually an excellent manager but he also needs players or a slightly open cheque book like you know who

Klopp at City or United would have done just as well as the current managers are expected to do.

Totally agree with paxman. Some people just have the tendency to overreact. A positive result next week and all the negativity will be swept under the carpet.

Lads,I’m not hating on Klopp. We are lucky to have him. I’m just frustrated at the club’s lack of action regarding signing the types of player that we need. Klopp is the right man for the job,100%

Paxman,50 goals conceded in the PL last season and 5 goals conceded in the first 2 PL games suggest that Liverpools defensive frailties are nothing new and indeed pre date Klopp by some time.

paxman, its not an over reaction to one defeat. Its who we lost to is the problem. When chelsea went 1-0 down on sat, i certainly didnt think they would lose. as soon as we went 1-0 down, i thought game over as burnley would sit back unlike aresnal.

klopp is here a year but we are still conceding silly goals. 5 goals in 2 games is a disgrace. Why are players being played pout of position? Didnt rodgers get hugely critcised for doing that? People think klop is the messiah but he needs to prove that. I just want to see genuine progress this season. I dont care if we finish 6th once we just look like we are moving forward. We are doing nothing at the moment. Its a continuation of last season. Losing to so calle lesser sides. No one in their right mind is calling for klopp to be sacked. No way. He has another pass for me this saeason but people need to stop defending him when his mistakes are costing us as well as the players

I would suggest the fans, not of all of it but a small number of them. They seem to think that they are entitled to win every game. FFS half of them laid into the team after the Arsenal game and wanted half the defense sold… Its no wonder they are going apeshit now when the team actually lost.

We have Mignolet in goal though. Haha
No, not going to put all the blame on him (or should we?) but till Karius and Matip return from their injury and Can plays his first 90 min, I feel it’s still too early to blame anyone yet.

What Klopp did at Dortmund was remarkable, he took a team that was on the verge of going under to league champions and CL finalists. His team battered Bayern in a cup final, under Klopp Kagawa was one of the best number 10s in the business.

What he is doing is work in progress.

Sean – You must be able to see we have a better team this season to last, Saturday was one of those games, every team has them, us as fans only remember our own. 81% possession and plenty of chances to score, on another day we play that and win 4-0 as we put away chances and don’t make the defensive mistakes.

Pax, we have been having too many “one of those games” for years now. We have 10 matches like that per season. Title winners have one of those games once every two seasons. That’s why we are and will continue to be also rans.

I think Klopp is facing shrewder managers in England than in Germany. Dyche was not fazed by Gegen Pressing and came up with a diabolical game plan, and moreover the Burnley players seemed to be walking on the sea.
