January 2, 2020 at 2:27 pm #1812743SL for £50m? Add another £20m and you get D.v.d.Beek.

Just look @ these overpaid, overrated primadonnas, does any of em fookers look like they care?
January 2, 2020 at 2:32 pm #1812745Redblood yes you can probably get vd beek but does he have the United DNA? I’ve seen him play and yes he’s a very good player but you need more than that to play for united.
That’s why we paid £80m for maguire rather pursuing de leigt who was cheaper, younger and a better footballer. Maguire fits in with the United DNA and that’s the pre requisite for any player coming in now under our cultural ‘reset’ initiative
January 2, 2020 at 2:33 pm #1812746Ozil covered the most ground last night.
January 2, 2020 at 2:35 pm #1812747Yeah, but Longstaff’s shite rs83.
January 2, 2020 at 3:04 pm #1812756He may be shite jm1502 but unfortunately we don’t make the decisions and whatever you think i don’t think Woodward does now either.
Its all down to the footballing people who are directing our cultural reset programme. As ole said the other day he has the final say on all transfers
Ole mick and Carrick are the driving force supported of course by fergie
January 2, 2020 at 3:08 pm #1812759rs83-Longstaff is a very young player and therefore with plenty of time to improve, but we need a few players to come in now and make sure we fight for trophies. That and combined with giving our own youth the chance to play, like Chelsea are doing.
January 2, 2020 at 4:34 pm #1812775If United pay £50 million for Sean Longstaff then I fear for the club more than I do right now. For those saying he’s really young, he’s 23 this year and has done absolutely nothing to justify that price tag.
His brother is bloody better than he is.
Why are we obsessed with English/British players? There are better foreign players out there for much less money. Look at Julian Weigl for example. Arguably better than our current midfielders (less Pogba/Fred) and is sold for £20 million. Sean Longstaff is not 2.5x the player he is.
This talk about United DNA, I don’t get it. If that was the case then why doesn’t Williams get in over Shaw despite his performances? Why doesn’t Tuanzebe, when fit start instead of Lindelof? Why are we persisting with Lingard and risk letting Angel Gomes leave? The United DNA comes from playing the youth, not buying average British players.
January 2, 2020 at 4:53 pm #1812781Spot on @nath44,and both Weigl & Kulusevski would have been better than all our midfielders, not counting Pogba since he never plays. Now we are ready to pay £35m for E.Can,apparently??
January 2, 2020 at 5:07 pm #1812783Redblood – Not sure I would pay for E. Can if I’m honest. If we could get him on loan with first option to buy in the summer then I would snap their hand off.
Just not sure if I would give Ole any more money as I don’t believe in his vision for the club, whatever that is.
What Ole should be doing right now is ringing Roma up and demanding the return of Chris Smalling. He would be like a new signing for our leaky defence.
How Ole sanctioned a 5 year contract for Phil Jones and allowed Smalling to leave shows how shorted the managerial team are.
January 2, 2020 at 5:20 pm #1812785Nath44 i think the British obsession comes from the top and the history of the club going back to the busby babes
As we have Bobby Charlton and fergie on the board wielding significant influence this obsession i feel will continue until we have a major shift at the top
Look at our current set up. Ole mick phelan Michael Carrick that’s our coaching team. You’ve then got nicky butt as head of youth development.
What’s the correlation there? Have these people got actual experience or any track record of sort to back their credentials? I mean phelan was sacked by Hull and Norwich so what does that tell you about his coaching credentials?
The only reason these people are at the club is not because of their ability or skill set, its because they are fergies boys.
January 2, 2020 at 5:51 pm #1812790RS83 – I tend to disagree. The Busby Babes and the Class of 92 were homegrown players, developed by the club. That’s what the United DNA is.
During the Busby/Charlton era, teams only bought English/British or Irish players. Just how it was in the late 50s/60s.
Sir Alex did buy a lot of British players at the start of his tenure and then sporadically when United were dominating the league. That didn’t stop him from buying foreign players if they were available and would benefit the team.
You’re right about Phelan but he was successful as SAFs right hand man. Ole on the other hand was sacked by Cardiff. I would suggest he has no credentials at all as a decent/good manager in English football.
I do think the setup boasts of football nepotism but that doesn’t mean the idea doesn’t work. Ajax and Bayern are two very good examples of having ex players in key positions of power at their respective clubs so I’m not against that approach. Just the people we have at the moment are not the right ones.
January 2, 2020 at 6:14 pm #1812791Not Weigl redblood, bang average mate. Dortmund to Benfica says it all.
January 2, 2020 at 7:13 pm #1812809jm1502-We all know German teams dont pay players that much, and Im not saying there arent better players out there, but Weigl for e20m or E.Can for £35m?I would have swapped Matic,Fred and MCT for him, easy. We paid over £40m for the utter useless piece of shite in Matic, right?
