Not sure how I feel about tonight? As much as I want another trophy, even if we get past tonight and then Chelsea in the final all you get is entry to Europa Conference League which no one wants! I don’t want us to risk anyone tonight who is not 100% as Sunday for me is much more important. I would prefer 5th or 6th or even dare I say it 4th that would get us back into at least proper Europa.

It will be difficult but I would put everything into winning. It’s two matches away from a trophy.

Yes Sundays game is important, but it might not even go ahead and we should have plenty of time to recover.

Having said that what sort of team we put out remains to be seen. It looks like Smith Rowe is still out and centre mid looks very light but it’s a cup game at home so of course we have a good chance. Ian tentatively looking forward to it!

    Bottlers and nothing else.

Liverpool missed their two best players and difference makers over the two legs and we still couldn’t take advantage. They are simply way better than us,In every department and deserved to go through.

I praised ben white for the first leg but he was back to his usual self responsible for both the goals.Tomiyasu is nothing but overhyped and had his worst game for us.
That’s 67m on two overpriced overhyped defenders.

We had no plan,we are too predictable.Arteta had the option to show us something different but failed.
I have said it time and again this team isn’t a posession team.Isn’t a play out the back team.We don’t have the players for it.We don’t have the midfield for it.
It’s just a young inexpereinced team that were never going to succeed. That’s the truth of modern football and we are the only dumb team in the world to put so much faith in young talent and reap no rewards.

150m spent and nothing to show for it.Same old Arsenal.

What a load of rubbish as is the case so often in big games. I thought without Xhaka stinking the place out we would move the ball forward but no, even at the end slow sideways backward shit. What was Arteta’s plan? Why did Lokonga invariably take the safe option except for one pass to Lacazette who should have scored. After the first 15 minutes all Liverpool had to do to nullify us was double up on Saha and Martinelli and zilch support when they did get the ball Also Ben. White has to learn to defend and not keep getting on the wrong side of strikers- a poor display.Artet, don’t bother bringing on that fraud Nketiah. Hw couldn’t be arsed to run even though he was only on for 15 minutes. Very poor alleoy d- no plan B , as usual.

I have been saying since the start of the season,These players aren’t good enough to play possession based football. It’s just sideways and bacwards passes. There is no urgency,no purpose and no dominance at all.Last game,we were forced to swtich to a back 5 and we defended well.Today,Arteta could’ve surprised us by using the same formation but he chose the style and formation he is obsessed with.Something that will never work with these group of players.

Ben white isn’t good enough to play in a back 4 and tomiyasu is not a right back.Swtich to a 3 and it would perfectly suit them both.Yes,we still lack a RWB and I think we should do all to get one as we’re linked with spence I think his name is and he had a stellar game against us.

People also forget that while Auba might be off form he’s still a valuable player.Him not being in the team is having a striker who is supposed to be our best not even being available. So if we even sign vlahovic,it will merely be a replacement and not an addition.

What’s the point of signing Arthur now?We only have the PL left to play for.
We need another central defender as well.

Basically,we need a RB,Centre half, two central mids and a striker to say the least. And that would merely give us a chance for top 4.

With the season we’ve had, anything other than a top 4 finish is a failure. No progression at all.And this idea we signed young players and they need time.Save it.
Who told Arteta and Edu to sign all six players costing 150m either only 22 or 23 yrs old.
Where’s the balance?Where’s the expeirence? Are we playing in a youth league. We might as well have.

Expected result though and you could really see that the players who have been out for a while were not ready.

But what we can see is that we are a team far away from the top.

As for Arteta well he is clueless as to what our best setup is

In the list of all time Arteta cock ups this is in the top3. What sort of game plan was that, 4-1-4-1 is he mad. How was that ever going to work, Ramsdale should have stopped the goal, Tomiyasu obviously hadn’t recovered and shouldn’t have played, White struggled with no support in front of him and no support from either side. Gabriel like White was poor, he was beaten in the air every time by a variety of Pool players and his distribution was terrible. Tierney was all over the place and he spent more time kicking the ball straight up in the air than anything else. Lokonga in midfield on his own, laughable. And Saka Odegaard, Smith-Rowe and Martinelli with Lacazette our only striker, except he never strikes. Smith-Rowe wasn’t fit and just like the Forest game Saka and Martinelli couldn’t beat an egg. I know there are mitigating circumstances regarding covid and injury so why loan players out especially AMN who Arteta clearly has a personal vendetta against. Then the icing on the cake, Party. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Rush him back all so he could get sent off. Tactics, team selection, formation all wrong. We are playing at home and all we do is go sideways and backwards as slowly as possible. Arteta is so out of his depth.

Players have bad games or make mistakes then same old rubbish that they were bad signings. I will say no more. We started well but we looked toothless we just didn’t have enough goal threat although that’s against one of the best back fours in Europe. I can’t say I am gutted we lost, thought it was going to be a big ask anyway and winning that cup does not add anything. I am more annoyed we have lost Partey for a couple of games!

A number of players weren’t ready and clearly weren’t anywhere near 100%. Anyone claiming they are bad signings doesn’t have a clue, it’s not the players it’s the poor way the team was set up. But as you say there is no point saying anymore to a certain person and it’s good to see no one is engaging with him. You’re right there was no goal threat and I didn’t expect to see any with that line up. Then we have Partey doing the same sort of moronic thing we would expect from Xhaka. We desperately need an upgrade in the centre of midfield and upfront. Without a top quality striker we can forget it. The January window has been a disaster so far. We are weaker now than we were on Dec 31st. Arteta get your finger out.

Steve as it was 2 yellow is it not only one game for Partey?

That said the first is not even a yellow the second however could have been a straight red.

Oracle no point it was the same thing as always after a loss and then the extra Edu out thread.

Yes Muffler, regarding Partey, I thought the 2nd one was bordering yellow/red. I’ve seen it again today, it was a red. So as you say it’s only one game but we only have one game between now and the break so rushing him back was pointless but at least he can play immediately after the break. And finally of course it was all Ben Whites fault let’s re-sign Mustafi. Just ignore is the only way

Well that’s a positive its only one game but things are so tight in the league it could make all the difference! I didn’t actually see it as I turned it off after they scored the second! I think they will try and get cover for midfield and if a deal can be done on a forward I am sure they would. The club just needs to be sensible about it, No panic buys keep the process going of young and up and coming and if we cant get that now, lets just wait until Summer. I agree we are a weaker squad, again the AMN loan with no replacement just makes no sense.

Stev -Err,what else do you want me to say?Ofcourse these signings should be judged in games that matter. Not in games that are played against depleted relegation threatened sides like norwich and leeds.

Did I not praise Ben white in the first leg? That should prove I have absolutely no agenda against him and call it like I see it.
But as usual he was back to his old self making mistakes. How many times is he going to get a free pass until you actually realise he’s had too many moments like this.Oh,I forgot He’s young so he’s protected.

I think it’s more to do with the fact now that Arsenal have spent 50m on him the fans so desperately want to see him succeed that they fail to acknolwdge all his bad games. But I’m not like that,I’ll call it like I see it.
This is not only about him but Tomiyasu as well who had his worst game in an Arsenal shirt.

Honestly, thought. This site is dead. There are those three same old posters and hardly anynone else for the possibility to engage with.
One who I honestly think has such low standards and ambitions he keeps making excuses. One who I used to atleast engage with before but I’ve lost all respect for in the past few weeks.Another who’s posts I haven’t read in a year and who’s not even worth mentioning and is most likely a robot.
The three stooges,nO Prizes for Guessing who they are.Enjoy making excuses for this club.
No wonder we’ll never win any major trophy again.

Steve, it doesn’t look as if there are going to be any signings, perhaps Arthur on loan but is he much cop, from what I’ve seen no. Vlahovic isn’t joining and never was, that was the usual Arsenal Jan scam, feed the press transfer stories in order to appease the fans, then when the window has closed say “ah well we tried, just couldn’t get it over the line” If we don’t get a striker we have no hope of 4th. Arteta has really cocked up this window big time.

As I indicated before, if we do not get EL football at least, Arteta will deserve to be sacked. In these difficult economic times to spunk £150m on players that are largely potential as opposed to ready is imbecilic. We do not have the time to wait 3-4 years and who knows if Arteta will have changed or learnt anything by then? This sideways, backwards rubbish will never achieve anything. City do that to an extent, but in the final third they have players such as KDB, Silva and Foden who can deliver a killer pass. We have no-one who does that and it hardly helps when Odegaard with his left foot emphasis and Lokonga playing only with his right, play on the wrong sides- masterful by Arteta of course! No wonder, Lokonga kept coming back with his passing. All Liverpool had to do last night was double up on our two most dangerous players, Martinelli and Saka and that was any threat nullified. Tierney and Tomi hardly ever provide runs for Martinelli and Saka to help and it’s little wonder that they too kept having to go back when in an advanced position. Now to Burnley who will have had two weeks off. Bottom of the table and will kick, scratch and bite to get something. Are we going to be up for it? Do we have the players? Are more than 4 or 5 of them fit? You have ballsed up Diet Pep- in a transfer window and in times like this when we are down to our bare bones, wait until the last week of the window to do all the loans- what a prat this “manager” is.

I repeat what I said in another way a good performance does not make or confirm if a player a good signing.
Don’t know much about Arthur but apparently he is fairly decent and at this stage we almost need bodies in midfield as we have no one even close to Partey and Xhaka except Lokonga and not sure he is close as he is firmly a backup. Its the only position I would consider someone on a short term basis who does not fit our recent profile of signings as we are so short. I just don’t see us getting a forward before Summer and as much as want one, we do need that to be a long term signings not just a body as we have 3/4 already. Obviously if we get rid of Auba then we will need someone short term.
Its a bit harsh to say he cocked it up unless I suppose you are just talking about he decision to let AMN go on loan with no back up plan. In terms of signings cant really think of anyone we have missed or can get who would make a massive difference.

This idea that these players weren’t fit for last night’s game is just Laughable. It’s almost as bad as we lost against city due to Fatigue. The kind of excuses made on here are comical to say the least.

This club had two cases of covid from all the players that played last night.Tomi and Odegaard.Tomi was diagnosed earlier so he had a slightly longer recovery period than Odegaard. The latter was our best player on the pitch yesterday. The former the worst.
Either way I’m not buying a lack of match fitness. We didn’t even play on the weekend which was postponed. That gave these players an extra few days(YET AGAIN) same case as in city’s game.

If Arteta genuinely thought these players were’nt match fit he’s have asked for a postponement. But he didn’t because it was nothing like that.
We lost because we lack the quality and Liverpool are way better than us.No amount of tactics or a tweak in formation could’ve saved us.Yes,we are that far behind the likes of Liverpool.

Jeff – While I agree with most of what You’ve said,I don’t know why you’re putting everything on Arteta. While it has been established that Both Arteta and edu screwed up in the recruitment by spending 150m on potential rather than ready made players.Good thing you mentioned it,However if I do apparently it’s the same old.It is Edu’s job to get the transfers over the line at the right time. He’s been negotiating for arthur for ages and the only reason that deal hasn’t been wrapped up is purely down to Edu’s incompetence.
The fact that there are still people that make excuses for Edu is beyond beleif.I doubt we’ll ever be a top club again with standards like this.

I dont claim to know but Arteta stated 5-6 players have not trained this week and Tomi was pushed to play since Cedric and Chambers were out.

Thats what I base my point not guessing work some self entitled expert thinks.

It’s about connecting the dots from the information that is released from the club. Our game against spurs was postponed due to not enough players being available due to injuries, afcon etc and not only covid.
If Arteta genuinely thought these players weren’t fit enough he’d have requested a postponement for this game as well.I mean it was an important enough game after all.

Some people are too stupid to understand that, and will use fatigue,Lack of match fitness as an excuse incase we lose.
But any fan with a half decent brain would’ve realised we lost because this team isn’t good enough and Liverpool are just way too better than us in every single department.
Guess some will always be in denial.
