I’ve been in prison for the last few months so apologies if this has already been discussed. But amongst all the fairy tale stories in the PL this season the abject failure of one the countries biggest clubs appears to be going under the radar.
In all likelihood, Villa will be relegated this season. I know they have been pants for years now but for me this is a bigger surprise than seeing Palace and Watford challenging for the European spots.
With the changes to the financial landscape in the top flight today, relegation could be catastrophic in the long term. The Villa board should be ashamed of themselves.

totally agree Tim, I work with a long suffering Villa season ticket holder.

How your fans have stomached the owner and his lack of investment is beyond me, its only a surprise you guys have not been relegated already to be honest.

The team needs some major investment and old Randy does not seem interested and has looked to sell previously

    you need new owners…

While it is clear that Lerner has never invested enough and that Villa need new owners the likelihood of that happening once they get relegated surely recedes…? If Lerner wants to at least recoup what he paid this would appear unlikely for a Championship team…? KTBFFH

Good Point CFC and he has tried to sell previously?

Never really seemed a serious kind of owner, its a perfect club for a rich ruski or Oil money to buy, the history, ground and fans all in place just need good owners and some investment but i think its to late now

To be fair Villa have brought in 12 players in the summer. They sold Benteke for £32.5m but that money was reinvested in players like Richards, Sinclair, Ayew, Gestede and Lescott. IMO Sherwood should have been given more time. Under Sherwood Villa were never humiliated. They only ever lost by the odd goal. Garde is useless and has just sealed Villa’s fate.

Aston Villa are the victims of gross negligence from the board level.

They have declined slowly and surely, constantly accepting mediocrity as long as they stayed in the EPL – the fact that Gabby Agbonlahor is a senior figure stands as testament to that.

I speculated that Villa were doomed very early in the season but the experimental appointment of Remi Garde was the final straw – the man has been given a knife in a gunfight.

The worst part is Villa are getting relegated just as the TV money starts getting really big.

Villa will have the most famous stadium in the Championship next season.

Its a shame as Villa were a regular top 6 side under O’Neill and I think under Sherwood they could have gone places given time and a bit of backing.

I’d much rather see Sunderland go down or even Newcastle given their fans and board.
