After the sad and sobering news of MacGuffin’s passing, plus the months of uncertainty for all of us with COVID, it’s time to get back to normality on here and start talking about football again now that the league is restarting.

Thoughts on Spurs vs United? Personally I wish we played them before the stop as we were on a good run and they were on the slide. True we have Pogba and Rashford now but they also have Son and Kane back who I think are more valuable to their team for this match than Pogba and Rashford would’ve been for us back in March.

    Think we’ll see this line-up:

    De Gea
    AWB – Lindelof – Maguire – Shaw
    Pogba – Fred
    James – Fernandes – Rashford
    Martial

With an empty stadium and the first match after the break, it will feel like a total pre-season match: thinking 1-1.

Well this is a welcomed change! Nice acknowledgment of the Macguffin as well Sympathy.

As for the game i’m not sure Pogba will be thrown straight in, great that we have a fully fit squad, but i think Ole will pick the players who have been loyal to him and in good form. Perhaps Pogba sitting on the bench and fighting to regain his place is the best way for him to repair the relationship with the fans? Bruno is the man right now and i really hope his positioning and excellent form isn’t curtailed by trying to shoehorn Pogba back into the team.
That said the 2 of them playing together is a mouth-watering prospect, assuming they can actually perform in the same team.
I’m not sure about this Spurs side under Jose, obviously having their 2 best players back is a huge boost for them. But i can see us taking a 1-2 win away from what is our hardest game left in the season.

Mourinho is a busted flush. We will steamroll them – at least 1-3 if not more for us

Pogba is now a different kind of problem for Ole. I think Ole needs to start McTominay, but I wonder if Pogba might get to nod over James.

I hope for a win, but Jose has had months to plan this fixture and whatever people think of him he was always one for meticulous planning.

I will go for 2-1 to us.

I was looking forward to this fixture before things came to a halt. An entirely different match now, in some ways I think not having a home crowd will do Spurs a favour and ease some pressure.
As for us, I think Ole will want Pogba and Fernandes to start, so perhaps Matic to shield the defence. Maybe a 3-5-2 to start with, Rashford and Martial to start up top with instructions to get down the sides of the glacially slow Spurs CB’s. At least if Spurs sit deep we have midfielders capable of scoring from range and playing accurate through balls.
No idea yet what the score will be!

Yeah, that could be right Hooked, Ole has done similar before with two forwards drifting wide rather than a number 9.

He could then push Pogba forward ahead of the midfield and that way get Pogba, Fernandes, McTominay and Fred all in the side.

Replace Lindeloaf with Bailly or Tuanzebe and add Sancho next season and I think we are finally on the right track for a top four finish. I think Ole has to go for a win in all remaining games because if we lose this one and Chelski win at Shef utd 6 points will be almost impossible to make up.

Just had a look at the run in. Leicester have the most difficult of the teams around us. Final game of the season could determine who gets Champions League group stage place (3rd)

Homer – Yeah if we’re in a position going into the last game of the season with everything right okay for it will be a big turn around for Ole. On paper it looks like a very capable squad when everyone’s fit.

Feels good to be back to teamtalk but sucks coming back to so many bad news, I really hope everyone is coping well with all that’s going on, there’s more to life than just football.

Anyway premier league is back and I’m honestly over the moon.

First things first, are we continuing with the predictions? With games coming thick and fast it might be hard updating the league table after every match

My lineup against spurs would look like this
    De Gea
    AwB Maguire Lindelof Shaw
    Mctominay Matic
    Fred
    Bruno Martial James

    Going for a 2-0 win MartialX2

@libanski, you do know Pogba and Rashford are both back?
    I’d predict something like:
    DdG
    AWB, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw
    McTominay, Fred
    Bruno, Pogba, Rashford
    Martial

Yes I know Happy but i wouldn’t mess up with our last winning lineup…Matic must play, Fred must play, I can sacrifice Mctominay for Rashford
So maybe a midfield three of Matic Fred and Bruno then James Martial and Rashford upfront

Happy to continue the predictions. I may take Homer’s kind offer up if I struggle to keep up, but let’s give it a go first and then go from there.

I have an excel sheet with formulas on it which has a little manual work which I would need to email across if Homer does help out so it would take a little planning first, but I will bear that in mind.

It’s too early to call this yet, we’ll have to see closer to the time. Not sure if Bruno and Pogba can really work but time will tell. Either way I think we’ll find a way to let Pogba go and bring in van de Beek or a similar deep midfielder to let Bruno push further up

@killyboye Andy Pereira being linked with departure. Van de Beek could replace him and Lingard. Then if Pogba was sold we’d need 1 quality player to replace him. That would leave us with good depth in midfield.
Apparently Pereira scored twice against WBA yesterday. I still maintain he’s a decent player and will have a steady career if he moves to a mid table club
