I think if Conte sits back and don’t attack Barcelona. then we can draw the conclusion that ” Conte is post caring end”. the game hasn’t been played yet. and my belief is Conte will go and try to score a goal at least. otherwise if we plays like we did at City. then there is no point in staying together. the club will have to take action and release him. but as a high profile Coach, that will tarnish his reputation. and i think he will still he will have to protect his reputation. and i believe he is a professional coach and a man with integrity.

I have no doubt about his commitment to the course or at least in the short time. but in the longer run its up to him and the club to decide. as for the Barcelona game. i don’t think we will match them in terms of possession. but what we will try to do is to try and take advantage the few chances that we may get. and if we score it will be an interesting game. fingers crossed if Iniesta isn’t fit.

Lucky Destiny@3:43pm Lucky, sorry mate but this is meant to be a Barca thread and I explained exactly why I closed the City thread in my post @2:36pm everything had been said and it was heading for another insult fest which is unhelpful to the site.

Personally I think it’s all been said on City but if you and others want to continue discussing the City game I don’t have a problem with that and with that in mind I’ve reopened the City thread on the understanding it’s not hijacked again for the trading of insults. Cheers 999

For me appointing Zola as a DOF will be a good idea.

There shouldnt have been insults thrown about nine so apologise for my part, to be fair though was minor tit for tat and given how angry we were with the game I think it was harmless.

Lucky, we’ve recently lost posters over insults being thrown that then escalated and these things have a habit of getting out of hand.

The City thread was going around in circles and closing the thread helped nip any problems in the bud but the thread is open now for anyone who wants to continue talking about Sunday.

Now about this Barca game…..😊 Cheers 999

Have to say that I am not totally convinced about Zola but that is purely based on his managerial lack of success to date

Obviously a great player with a great deal of experience but his managerial failings have shown that not all great players can become managers. Whether a higher role within the Club would suit him or Chelsea I am not sure because it would certainly indicate that a change of mind set from the board would be required to take on board, or at least take notice of, any thoughts or recommendations that Zola may make..?

All in favour of having some ex players being integrated into the Club especially those with a strong love of the Club so players like JT, Frank, Drogs and Zola do spring to mind but the quality and ability is still required. KTBFFH

At least we have outstayed Spurs in the Champions League and not been the first English team dumped out. Thumbs up to the programming authorities. I have some hope for the 2nd leg as Barca did not totally convince me in the first leg and our effort in that match tells me that our lads will be really up for this. We could and should have have been two up via Willian and Christensen’s pass was all that cost us a goal or it would have been 1-0 so I have a feeling there could be a shock on the horizon. Time to be positive.

1967 – so long as Conte is prepared to be more offensive than at the weekend, i.e. approach the game like we did at the Bridge then like you, I am optimistic that a result is possible

Barca do have a awesome record at home but these are the records that have to be broken at some stage…!! I am sure that we will ride our luck a bit as well but have to agree that they were not as impressive as they historically have been over the years

    Fingers crossed…KTBFFH

Although there were some positives to take from the Palace game we will need to play a lot better on Wednesday night particularly defensively and in our passing out from the back and in our taking of chances to have any chance.

Christensen seems to have lost the momentum and the form he has shown when he ousted Luiz. may be the fact that he is a guaranteed starter made him little bit complacent. I’m not sure if Cahill will start in that game though. he played well and hasn’t set a foot wrong. and since he has done it, and played there before won’t do any harm if he starts. he doesn’t take risks with the passes like Rudiger and Christensen. i would be tempted start Cahill at Barcelona. regardless of what happens his experience will be vital. and he has played at the Camp Nou before.

I am not optimist against Barca at Camp Nou. Messi will rip us off as he broke his duck against us at the Bridge. And they have Iniesta too, a genius passer. I hope that Bakayoko won’t start, Morata won’t start. I think we should start Giroud, he would help us in our attack, holding the ball and open up spaces for Hazard and Willian.

    My team: Courtois – Azpi,Christensen,Rudiger – Moses,Kante,Fabregas,Alonso – Willian,Giroud,Hazard

Conte to let the players have an input into tactics for Wednesday v Barca.

Like Aindro I would tempted to go with Giroud up front although I’m not sure who Conte selects or what tactics he employs Wednesday night will make too much of a difference Barca are one of the 2/3 best teams in the World and it’s a massive task we face akin to trying to climb Everest in trainers.

But we’ve done that before and ultimately planted the Blue Flag on top of the Mountain too. You just never know.

It comes to something when arsenals ex worst striker is our number 1 now. What even goes on at board level. Crazy stuff. Aindro iniesta is injured isnt he? Agree though. We will get shredded up on wednesday

Personally, I think it is a sad indictment of a manager when he publically says he will let the team help decide the tactics for a game. Conte is supposed to be a master technician who spends hours working on his tactics for a game so why would you ask for input from the team and if you really want it why would you make it public…!!!!

Have to say, rapidly losing faith and confidence in the man and feel we should bite the bullet now….? KTBFFH

The problem is that we have a manager that is not flexible with formation,he only knows 1 way of playing if it fails can change it a plan.
Juventus started with 343 against Spurs and were turn to pieces.but Allegri being a wile fox switched to 424 and turn the game when winning switched to 442 to stifle the game.
Zidane an inexperienced coach was able to switch formations within game with psg from 433 to 442 to win.
Conte have seriously let me down with his stubbornness at times he reminds me of a more successful Roy Keane because they were identical footballers in there playing days.

Game plan should include Azpi, Morata, Goal followed by bringing on a few extra backs then park a few buses. First we need to keep them out but I have a feeling we can get a goal from a set piece. The other option might be the Alonso thunderbolt. Fingers and toes crossed. No Iniesta would help the cause greatly imo.

1905, is letting the players have an input in how we might set up v Barca really letting the players decide the tactics? I’m not sure it is but perhaps better left unsaid to the media by Conte.

For me, this is another step in Conte looking to get himself out of the Club

I do not believe that the manager should/would be asking for help/assistance or whatever from the players. Possibly discuss tactics with the captain but certainly not put it out there for the world to discuss. Seems to me that he is making a case for the fact that he is losing control and needs help…?

Maybe I am reading too much into this but it certainly smacks of making him look that he is not doing the job to the best of his ability, he needs help so that the board think he is no longer fit for purpose (which means they act and he gets his payoff…?). KTBFFH
