well thats 3 games below par now, weve been lucky because leeds have slipped worse than us. i listned followed the Barnsley game on the BBC, i must say great start early goal but once barnsley settled they tended to dominate with only johnstone outstanding again. it shows our squad isnt as good as we thought ,we cant play austin and kanu in starting 11 together, just doesnt work.we were lucky today or should i say yet again , brentford should of beat us and we were lucky against birmingham. apparently we have some great forwards in the academy ,maybe we should give them some time from the bench, it doesnt hurt. we lost some good youngsters to barcelona and man city because they couldnt see a way to the first team.
were half way through the season ,a long way to go but we need to get back on the game plan.i thought he should of played o shea today, hes a great prospect, i know theres a lot of games over xmas ,new year, we need to start winning again . gibbs is injured again ,im still not sure about our defence, sawyers had another below game today, TIRED!! give him a rest. i believe in bilic ,hoping we turn it around against middlesborough and leeds boing boing

Fourth poor performance actually from which we have gained one win and three draws, just 6 points and increased our lead at the top of the table but the cracks are certainly showing.
We were outplayed for much of this game and the best chances fell in the first half to HRK and the Metro who each wasted one. Agree entirely that these two cannot be played together; it simply doesn’t work but more than that we are desperately missing Diangana and the pace, skill and threat he adds even on a quiet day.
Livermore played well again but Sawyer is off the boil and apart from his sharply taken finish Krovinivic was utter crap. Not sure what SB will choose to do about the midfield next time out but I’m pretty sure he’ll do something. It’s a real shame that Harper has fallen away so badly but maybe a chance for Willock to step up?
The good news of course is that Leeds are (typically) faring worse than us but I still think we will need to be far sharper on New Year’s day if we expect to win.
All things considered though it’s a hell of a good time to be a Baggie so a very happy 2020 to all and with any luck a return to the EPL come May!

I agree we were lucky yesterday, but i thought SB did the wrong thing when he put Phillips on the bench,we desperatly need his pace and crosses into the box when we play both HRK and CA at the same time, does not work at all.Sawyer need a rest against Boro, maybe it is time for Barry or where is Harper(some good games last season)gone. For me Harper is a good young midtfielder who needs game time, but it seems SB does not trust him.sorry it is.We have to get back on track or we soon will be catch by the other teems, therefor is Boro game sunday a must win game.COYB.Wish you all BAGGIES fans a happy new year.Norway baggie

Apparently we have not won at Barnsley for 47 years. So a draw, however much we were outplayed, is not necessarily a bad. Indeed, our manager sportingly agreed that it was a fair result.

What one has to realize is that this is a slog. And getting up for games, in the rain, at Barnsley, over the Christmas period is hard…especially for young Brazilians. I watched Arsenal toil against Bournemouth yesterday, in the pouring rain, and Arteta was happy (like Bilic was with our result) because he knows how easy it is to lose these matches….even when you are much the best.

I remember watching Albion play Barnsley at the Hawthorns, years ago, on a very muddy and tiring field that totally nullified skill. It was a grim game that Albion won per an own goal. And for all the faults and deficiencies that the current side may have, we are top of the table. So things could be far worse.

The bottom line is that man management is key in such situations and this is where a deep squad will survive, while a small one will get worn down. Slaven Bilic knows our team by now and I have every confidence that he’ll plug the holes in January.

Happy New Year to everyone on this page. 2020 is going to be a good year for WBAFC.
