Biggest talking point just now seems to be that of Mesut Ozil’s form and whether he should be rested for a game or 2. I have to say, it would be refreshing to see Wenger leave him out of the Bayern game. What we need on Wednesday is 11 grafters first and foremost. We can’t afford to carry anyone in this game. We need to do a job and see if we can still be in the tie when they come to the Emirates. This is the the ideal situation for Wenger to display some tactical nous but I can’t help thinking he will send the same team out again with the same reckless approach.

He has talked publicly about Ozil’s lack of confidence so it will be interesting to see how he handles it. When Carl Jenskinson had a confidence crisis he was almost sold in the first window that came up. I’m not trying to compare the 2 players but in that case Wenger felt the need to protect the individual who was coming in for a lot of stick from the fans. Perhaps Ozil isn’t receiving the same kind of criticism?

We need to be physically strong and press them all over the park and you won’t get that from Mesut. My preference would be to play a defensive pair or Coquelin and Elneny or Xhaka and then play the Ox in front of them in the more advanced role. He deserves to maintain his place in the side and his power and pace could be a great weapon on the counter attack. As for the front 3, I would really like to see Perez, Sanchez and Alexis as a fluid 3. I can’t see the point in starting Giroud against 2 big dominant CBs like Boateng and Benatia and the other 3 will cause a lot of problems with their movement.

Agree with you Andy but we know that won’t happen. He will not bench Ozil whilst his contract “negotiations” are still stalled and will play him. He’ll also play his other favourite shirker,Walcott who has yet again done absolutely nothing following his abysmal appearances against Watford, Chelsea and Hull. Apart from his hat-trick against Southampton’s youth team, what has he done even before being injured for a month? We start these two against Bayern and it’ll be 9 v 11. We need players on the flanks who can cover and work hard- Perez and Welbeck will do that and they should have started against Chelsea as well to counter their wing backs.

Something I forgot to add to my original post is that I would play Ozil against Sutton in the cup. If he needs confidence than why not? Tell him to go out there and boss a game for once. For 45 million and the 200k plus a week he is asking for, he needs to start showing a lot more. If he can’t do it against them, then he has a real issue

Andy, I usually have a bit of optimism going into these types of game. In the past, we’ve had some great away results in the CL, when everyone had written us off, but I have no confidence about this one.

Wenger has hinted that he might drop Oz, but I don’t believe him for a second.

The entire team needs shaking up. We’re limited in what can be done in defence, but in midfield and attack, Welbeck and Elneny should start and I’d also like to see Ox instead of Ozil.

Either way, if Wenger wants to shut his critics up (temporarily anyway), he needs – at the very least – to come up with something that will keep Bayern’s front line quiet and, like you say, keep us in the tie for the return leg.

AMZ – they’re seven points clear at the top of the table. It might not be the most competitive league but compared to our current form in our league, we could get seriously spanked.

Lewandowski against our back five? The way they’re playing this season? If it was a boxing match, the ref would stop it before it starts.

Amz- where have you been for the past decade? It’s irrelevant what form our opponents are in- we have no belief that we’ll perform well. Merse said in 1997 (before he was sold) that Wenger “gives us unbelievable self- belief.” That has disappeared now. We turn up for big games (and a reasonable number of everyday matches) with zero confidence. Remember PSG away this season, or going even further back, the home tie of the CL semi-final against United? Petrified is the only word to describe our bottlers. Home game against Spurs, last week against Chelsea, you can tell after five minutes play that we won’t win.

It’s pretty simple,If wenger has any plans to start Ozil we might as well save ourselves the embarrassment of traveling all the way there.Because if he starts judging on past experiences our chances of winning are nil.I think we are going to lose anyway as we are so inferior and afraid to to play top teams, but if we miracally were to get anything from this game it has to be with players who can press them.

Sorry Amz but Al The Sooner is right. If Bayern don’t get at least 3 I will be very impressed. As Al states Lewandowski against our shambles of a defence scares me to death. Bayern are still one of the best sides in Europe and I fully expect them to win both legs, we just aren’t good enough at this level.
