Morning Steveo – I surprised myself that I watched the whole thing but considering a serious lack of shots on goal, by either side, it actually wasn’t a bad game. Their penalty was the only real effort on goal that they had and, apart from that, we were totally dominant.

Wilshere was very lively and looking like he might push for a place in the first team soon. Maitland-Niles also looked good and Nketiah gets you excited every time he touches the ball.

All-in-all, considering we made 11 changes from the Spud game and we were already qualified, it’s hard to be too upset over the result.

And I’ll hold my hands up, I was embarrassed that we’re even in this competition and to start off with, really didn’t give a toss how far we got. Now I’m starting to think about the knock-out stages and the fact that Wenger will surely player a stronger side – we have a great chance of our first European trophy since ’94.

Cheers Al, much what i expected and hoped for, when ive seen wilshre lately he has looked decent so i hope he can continue improving and staying injury free.

OK its not the CL but i think this is more our level and a european trophy would still be great for me

Wenger has announced Ozil and Sanchez are not leaving in January. So is that free transfers then? Two star players

Wenger has a record of insisting a player won’t be leaving, about 24 hours before they sign for another club, so the only way we’ll know they’re staying – for this season at least – is if they’re still Arsenal players on 1st Feb.

As for going on a free, makes no difference to us fans and I’m not sure why anyone cares if they leave on a free. Given the choice between £60m last summer for Sanchez (which, let’s be honest, ain’t much in today’s market), or another 9 months of him being an Arsenal player, I’d take the latter every time and it was worth keeping Oz just for the way he destroyed the Spuds. Now we just need a repeat performance tomorrow.

Finally Al something I think we agree on. Why would you want to see our best players sold? And who cares if they go for free – look at all the money we make. We’re not excatly all chipping in keep the flood lights on are we?

However Wenger saying they’re staying does not mean they will, that has most definitely been proven!

Apparently we’ve also signed Barcelona’s Raul Sanllehi. A director of football, who won’t actually be labelled a director of football (so as not to upset poor little Arsene, no doubt), taking over Dick Law’s job. Never heard of him before but if he was in charge of Barca’s transfers, can’t be too bad.

The big question is, of course, how much power he’ll actually have but it’s unlikely he would have left a club like Barca and come to us without a clear definition of what his job will be and some guarantees that he’ll be allowed to do it.

Probably too late to have much effect for the Jan window but, with Mislintat coming in too, we could have a very interesting summer. Probably be the same old, same old but we can hope….
